Garden anyone?
May 14th, 2009 at 11:16am

Anyone putting a garden in this year?  Since my doggies are all gone, I've been spending a lot of my time digging in the dirt.  I have tomatoes, peppers, corn, zucchini, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, and of course, flowers and herbs.  And, I'm not even finished planting yet....LOL

My tomatoes all of a sudden went wild and look like a danged tree! I do sugar snap peas just cuz they look cool and are fun to pick and eat while drinking a beer and weeding the garden! Then different lettuces for fun salads, zuchini, bell peppers and herbs. It's a raised brick bed cuz I'm too old to bend over all the time! The garden is my happy place!

It's probably safe, but we're waiting another week or so to put our tomatoes in. I'll let the wench fill you in on what else she's got planted. I know the radishes and lettuce is up already.

I'm the opposite Joe, can't get mine to take off. I think it's this crazy weather, hail, rain, and flaming hot and that's just the last number of days.

I'm putting in a few herbs this year plus the usual, carrots, strawberries, gooseberries, scallions and tomatoes if they play ball.

I know what you mean Cathi. My grandmother's mobile home near us has been on the market for over 2 years. She died a year ago next month. My blessed uncle continues to pay the monthly space rent and utilities for a place that is empty. The MH Park rules do not allow us to rent it. So it sits. And I go over once a week to check on things. So frustrating.

From therealestateblogger.com:
Quote:
Dig a hole near your For Sale sign by the street approximately 3 inches deeper than the statue. If you have no yard, use a large plant pot.

Place the St. Joseph statue facing the street in the hole.

When covering the statue, a prayer should be said.

Quote:
O, Saint Joseph,
you who taught our Lord
the carpenter's trade,
and saw to it
that he was always properly housed,
hear my earnest plea.

I want you to help me now
as you helped your foster-child Jesus,
and as you have helped many others
in the matter of housing.

I wish to sell this [house/property]
quickly, easily, and profitably
and I implore you to grant my wish
by bringing me a good buyer,
one who is
     eager, compliant, and honest,
and by letting nothing impede the
     rapid conclusion of the sale.

Dear Saint Joseph,
I know you would do this for me
out of the goodness of your heart
and in your own good time,
but my need is very great now
and so I must make you hurry
on my behalf.

Saint Joseph, I am going to place you
in a difficult position
with your head in darkness
and you will suffer as our Lord suffered,
until this [house/property] is sold.

Then, Saint Joseph, i swear
before the cross and God Almighty,
that i will redeem you
and you will receive my gratitude
and a place of honour in my home.

Amen.

Once you have sold you home, remove the statue and place in your new home.

Radishes and lettuce are up, as is the kohlrabi.  Still waiting on the onions, beans, cukes and carrots.  If it would stop raining for more than a day I might go buy some tomato and pepper plants.

Last year I planted a dozen hazelnut "twigs" as a wind/neighbor break.  Most of them survived and are looking really good.  Another year before they "fruit."

This spring I had Brew take the chainsaw to the red currant bushes out back.  After having to toss and wash 47 million jars of very old currant jelly that never made it out of my basement, I said "ENOUGH!"  I'm not growing currants any longer.

I am using my 'tried and true methods" with St Joseph.......AND I'm using the one with the most notches!
In 14 or so years of Real Estate, I've always planted my patron saint upside down, facing the street, right by the front door. This one has 21 notches on him.that's 21 successes!
Here's the funniest part..........know whre I get my statues(with varying instructions included)? At my local RE supply store!

And I ALWAYS  thank him for his help everytime I pass him!
