Word from my son's recruiter
May 14th, 2009 at 4:23pm

My son Rob was up to Chicago for Marine Week at the request of his former commander, so I went over to see them this morning.  While there I ran into my son Michael's recruiter who told me that Michael has been meritoriously promoted to PFC!  Can't wait to see him at graduation next week!

He earned a 10 minute call home two weeks ago, and I didn't even recognize his voice.  He has reeally matured and grown in confidence in the last 10 weeks.  The Marine Corps has really been good for him.

One of the Few, the Prouder, a Marine Dad! Smiley

That's great Jerry! My nephew went into the Coast Guard as a 19-year old PUNK. No better description.

He came out a man and although he can have his punki-tendancies at times, he's become responsible and very grown up.

I didn't have sons but if I'd have had them I would have been proud to have them join a military branch.

Dont' forget to tell us when you come out to SD for graduation!

Wow Jerry, he's really something to be proud off.
I know I am, coz these guys are doing the right things for all of us.
To me, he cannot go wrong anymore just for doing what he does. He is among the selected few. I am so proud these people do what they do around the world, proud of the American ones, the European ones and off course our own Dutch ones. Truely the selected few.

You must be one proud daddy, Jerry.

Do me a favour will you? Tell him some stranger in the Netherlands is so frigging proud of him!

Pascal.

That is wonderful news Jerry! That is very hard to accomplish. I am very proud of your son also.  Chris came home on leave for two weeks and left to go back to San Diego last week.  It was so nice to have him home.  He is due to be promoted to corporal soon.  We can not wait.

One of the best things to ever happen to me was something that really pissed me off. I got drafted!
I think it would be a good thing to bring back the draft. There's a lot of young men out there that could benefit.
