No report of a missing child sure points a finger at the custodial parent. Will be an intersting investigation to watch.

I agree, Joe.  It's killing me that it would appear to be a single parent, as the other would certainly notice their child missing.  Or possibly a custody dispute and the child was on visitation and therefore wouldn't be "missing" by the other parent at ths time.

This sounds like something police do in these cases that do more good than harm in tracking down culprits. They try to keep things quiet enough to help assemble evidence and perhaps put the perps off gaurd so as to make a good arrest . It can work.

And it could be an abducted child from out of the area.

Another "throw-away" child!!  What in the hell is happening? People are just having kids the don't want and killing them? Or there's a lot more sicko's out there than there used to be.

A friend of mine was over CPS in the county where we lived when Buddy was little and some of the stories she told were horrendous. That was back in the 70s and it's gotten worse over the years.

This is upsetting and uncalled for... Hope they catch the perp and hang him/her.

Has it really gotten worse or is it getting more new coverage do to the 24hour news day and the internet? These thing were different back in the 70's.

Just asking Sad

I agree. The crime rate today is lower than in 1970. 100 years ago, it was much worse. But kidnappings and other crimes from out of your area, if ever reported at all, took sometimes weeks to get to your newspaper...and then likely in a Sunday edition only. Also, it wasn't considered so unusual for Joe The Plumber to stop off at a couple of taverns on the way home from work, show up late and beat up the wife and kids...on sometimes a regular basis. Back then, it wasn't considered abuse as we know the term. Nowhere near as much went through the justice system in the past. It would have swamped the system.

There was more assault and deadly crimes than today but there was no CNN and media outlets paying the bills by keeping us glued to the screen by concentrating on the worst on human nature. In many cases reading about some atrocity several days after the fact acted as a kind of filter that took a lot of the sting out of a lot of horrors.

In short, your kids are safer today than when I was a tyke but you'd never know it.
