Anybody ever have wierd/diff. ch cycles?
May 18th, 2009 at 7:13pm

Hey CHers! Has anyone had major changes, not just the clusters, but in sleeping, eating etc. as well before?
Forever, when they started I would get them around 2am every night but nothing else really changed.
But this time, not only am I getting them mostly during the day, I'm getting either more or less of them, and they are all more severe. And what's weirder, is my sleeping habits. I used to always be asleep by 10pm or so and up by 4am, but over the last couple weeks, I've either been bouncing off the walls and up for a couple days, or staying up late like 2 or 3am and up by 5 or 6am, or like the last couple days, I've been sleeping 7-9 hours and waking up completely exhausted. Just run down all to hell. And I usually eat something semi-small 2 or 3 times a day, but the last week or so, I'm finding myself eating maybe once a day and just living off shitload amounts of coffee and water and orange juice.
Anyone ever experience changes like this? I know the hypothalamus is the body's "clock," but this is truly strange.
much metta

For the first 20 or so years, I NEVER had a wake up in the middle of the night headache. 2 hits a day, one mid morning one early evening. Didn't start the wake up hits until my 40's. The morphing is one of the many annoying traits of CH.

As far as the other issues. I've experienced many of those, most were medication related. Prenisone makes me eat like a horse!! Even a 2 week cycle of prednisone will add 5 pounds to my frame!

Sleeplessness. If I have to start taking cafergot, I'll be up until 3 or 4 in the morning re arranging tupperware drawers!

Hang on for the ride!

I don't know. I haven't been on anything out of my normal Adderall, clonazepam, morphine etc. since my doctor went out of town. I see my neuro on Wednesday...maybe I'll ask him.
I HATED prednisone, but it helped. I gained so much weight, bloated, felt like styrofoam or something like that. Hard to describe unless you've taken it for some time. A couple decades ago, they wanted to try ergostat (I think that was the name), but I took it a few days (I remember it was low doses), but didn't help much, then I read about it (before computers were around much), and it said you had to be very careful with it because it could cause gangrene. So I said screw that, put me back on the pred.
