40th anniversary
May 24th, 2009 at 4:36pm

Tarey and I will be celebrating our 40th anniversary on September 13, and have just booked our second honeymoon at a resort on St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Our resort is on the eastern end of the island, next to a marina and not far from Red Hook.

Anyone been there?  Any recommendations on restaurants, places to see, things to do?

I've got 3 and a half months to get rid of the Michelin tire I'm still carrying around my waist.  Shopping for a bathing suit sucks - it's painful Cry!!!

Oh Sandy, I am so jealous.

I've been to St. Thomas 4 times now.  Each time was better than the last.   Never was at the resort you mentioned but there is a little open-air cafe and bar on Charlotte Amalie over-looking the ocean almost smack dab in the center of the town that hold happy memories for me.

Most of the resorts have fans in the rooms and that is all.  Not only are you lulled to sleep by the steady hum of the fans but of the ocean waves too.

Good grief I am jealous!!!!!!!!!!!

The duty-free shopping is to die for if you have the money which I did at the time...

Take a side-trip to St. Johns and  Megans Bay...you won't be sorry.   It's about a 30 min. ride by ferry.

I love old cemetaries...the headstones etc...there is a real old one on the other side of the island where all the tombs are lifting up and twisted. 1700's on some of them.

Did I mention how jealous I am?

Yup, me to....

No matter where we go city break or week long stay Marie and I will always check out the old cemeteries. I just love the history and the amazing stories that can be found in an old cemetery and they look so Gothic and cool.

Happy Anniversary Sandy...!
