Another wet bank holiday Monday

Yes its raining again, my trusty steed will have to stay in the garage once again.
Fortunately the weekend was dry and sunny which prompted me to dust off the old barbeque.
Now me and barbies don’t mix, I know it’s supposed to be a man thing but I’d prefer my food served at the table, no hassle and someone else cooking,
Anyway thought “right make a check list” now bear in mind the missus is watching!
•      Barbie
•      Tools
•      Lighter fluid
•      Charcoal
Didn’t use bullet points that’s just for effect.
Well, got the Barbie out and slightly in need of a bit of a clean, tools (utensils) not been used for a year (is that lamb kebab I can still smell).
No coals or lighter fluid!!
“Everything ok dear”
Yep!!
“Just popping out for a bit honey”
Had been asked already if we’d got everything.
“Yes dear stop worrying”
Down to the local DIY store in search of the missing bits, gave a wave to the man selling windscreen chip repairs,(is he still here?) strangely drawn to the timber section once again (do like a piece of planned timber)  and to the barbie section.
“Firelighters, charcoal, think them skewers may be needed, matches”
“Need some beer”
Back home standing with beer in one hand match in other very macho felt pretty prepared for the onslaught of cooking by fire.
The caveman instinct kicked in!
“Give me the burgers” I yelled
“We haven’t got any”
“Give me the sausages” I yelled
“We haven’t got any”
“What about the lamb kebabs”
“Nope”
Anyway we settled on beans on toast, at least it kept us warm for an hour or so.
Don’t you just hate alfresco dining especially when there’s no food in the freezer?

Snork!!

Thanks for a good laugh.  I always laugh when a woman says "my hubby will do the grilling."  That means the wife has to plan, shop, and prepare so hubby can throw meat on a fire and act like he created the meal.

Loved the "missing bits", too.
