hello. i an an episodic ch "habitué".
i use a preemptive zoloft/seglor therapy together with sumatriptan injections (max two 6mg doses per day) during my clusters. i tend to stick with it since the sumatriptan kills away the pain in 4-5 min sharp. that means completely avoiding 2 hits per day, which can save a 6-10 hour day at work with absolutely no worries whatsoever.
however, i am not crazy about the idea of taking an antidepressant (although very powerful as a long term serotonin antagonist) every day for 4 week periods at least twice a year (zoloft, which my doctor has been prescribing me, during clusters, for some years. his wife suffers from CH too, so i trust his therapies to be apt for my condition).
about the mushroom issue, i would be curious to hear opinions on the correct dosage/method of employment. i am not sure whether i want to try it, and have no idea as to where i could find them in my country.
but i am still quite curious. i heard that even occasional doses are effective in reducing the number of hits, and their intensity. i have never thought of trying them during an episode or a cluster, until i learned that they are proven to be effective. however, not being an official experimental method yet, i cannot ask doctors or people who haven't experienced this treatment.
hence, were i to have the chance to try the mushroom therapy, i wouldnt be sure whether to:
1. Use a small, preemptive dose every X days/every day. i mean a very mild,
non psychoactive dose (less than 0.5 dried grams of psilocybe cubensis strain). could that work?
2. Use a medium dose (tripping a little) every X days (0.5-1 dried grams of cubensis mushroom)
3. Use one large dose when the "cluster season" is about to start (mine are quite regular and predictable) to significantly delay/decrease the hits (again, around 1-1.5 or more grams of dried cubensis, which is usually quite an intense experience).
The problem is that i wouldnt want to be tripping half of the time during a cluster. i need to be lucid all day long to work and live a normal life. A mushroom trip can last up to several hours, and would debilitate my daily activities. All the same, a prolonged psychoactive use (medium trips every day, 2 days or so) would drive me nuts after a while.
Is it possible to use mushrooms to an extent that they work on the CH but do NOT present their entheogenic psychedelic effects? Or is it more effective to RARELY take stronger, psychoactive doses?Pls no notes on the dangers of using psychedelic compounds. I know enough
Thanks!
