I am really pissed off at my pharmacy
Jun 27th, 2009 at 8:02pm

I saw a new doctor last month who prescribed the 10 Imitrex injections per month my insurance will pay for. When I went to fill the new prescription they told me it was special order and I could pick it up the next day. Went back the next day and picked it up... $0 copay.

They told me my other prescription expired a year ago so they were still waiting for my doctors approval to fill it. I asked "What other prescription"? And "the one I picked up today is to replace it... I don't need that one".

So they called a week later and said I have a prescription to pick up. I didn't know what it was so I picked it up anyway. It was the Imitrex prescribed by the other doctor that I told them last week I don't need because the new prescription replaces it. I picked it up anyway... $0 copay.

The nerve of those lousy bastards to make me have double the Imitrex I am supposed to have.  Smiley

Not to burst your bubble, but use them wisely; just in case.

Next month they might catch the error and not cover it for a full month, therefore what you have now is your two month supply and your script will skip next month, so that the 3rd month you get the refill.

They DO catch those things.

Peace,
Carl

Hi Frank,

Just another example of the weirdness in our medical system...and no,
I have no idea if the "new" proposed system will be better...it's very confusing.

Reminds me of the time my neuro prescribed the 4 mg stat dose imitrex. When I went to pick it up they gave me the vial pack (WAY more doses...same price!). I questioned it and was told..."is there a problem...it's the same thing?" Ummmmm,nope...this is just fine! And, ummm, I'll need some syringes but I don't have a script. "Noooo problem, which ones do you want? "

If I had ASKED for a script change I'm guessing they would have gone all freaky on me (has happened before), but this was done so ho hum it boggles my mind. What I REALLY suspect happened is that they didn't have the stat doses and just substituted...so frustratingly arbitrary....bless your good luck, hope it continues...

Best,

Jon

It goes both ways. I got a bill for over $2000 for Lisa's allergy serum that she got late May. It was denied because she wasn't a fulltime student. She graduated late May.It seems they were anxious to drop her before June 1st. It was resolved, just a pain to deal with. And we switched her over to COBRA. Hopefully no issues will come up!
