Neuro Recommendation in Austin
Jul 2nd, 2009 at 10:27am

This is obviously only useful to sufferers in the area, but I just wanted to let anyone know that I have found a neuro that get's cluster headaches.  And by get's cluster headaches I mean he GETS clusters.  As a result he has been amazing and very forthcoming with scripts, O2, whatever.

Dr. Robert Cain in Austin

I hadn't seen him since 2007 when my cycles started a few weeks ago.  I called for an appt and of course they couldn't get me for a week and a half, but even though I hadn't seen him in 2 years he called in the airstrike of preds, verap, O2, and zomig anyhow.  I was shocked.  Anyhow, this is probably only for a few people out there, but if you have any questions about him ask away.  I recommend.

I agree - he's a good man who actually works with you.

After asking me questions and actually listening to my long history, he asked what I wanted to do. I told him. He agreed that it was a solid plan.

It was obvious to me that he has been listening to his CH patients, because he knows almost as much as I do about it  Wink

Dr. Cain has been my neuro as well since 1999.   I think his own cluster condition is somewhat new;  he mentioned it at my last appointment 2 weeks ago, but never before.

I could definitely tell a difference in his (and his office's) responsiveness this time vs. my previous episode 18 months ago.   It had always been like pulling teeth to get them to give me any prescription (even oxygen) prior to my actual appointment, but this time I was quite pleasantly surprised.   At my appointment, he gave me some triptan samples (Relpax/Zomig/Axert/etc.) and asked me to e-mail him feedback on which worked the best.
