He did his job.  You can't ask any more than that, and I'm grateful for what he did.  He is not the first to fight in his underwear, and I'm glad he knew the importance of reacting NOW instead of trying to be in the uniform of the day.

I remember when this story broke.  Specialist Zachary Boyd thought that he would get into trouble/fired.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the solider photographed last week wearing pink undies as he fought off Taliban insurgents during an ambush in Afghanistan had a "special kind of courage."

"Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage," Gates told an audience in New York Thursday night. "I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just image seeing that -- a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his crosshairs
