My day and a new member of our family.
Jul 10th, 2009 at 6:37pm

It was around lunch time, I had taken my jd to eat at McDonalds, we were leaving and I was stuck in the drive though window traffic. I saw a child caring a dog, the reason I noticed was the child was having a hard time because the dog was heavy for the child. I heard the boys father tell the boy, “GET THE blank DOG IN THE CAR OR HE IS GOING TO THE POUND!” The little boy put the dog in the back seat, then I saw the man ball up his fist and he went inside the car after the dog, he kept hitting the dog with his fist, the dog was yelping from the hits. I couldn’t stand it so I sat on my horn hoping to get some ones attention. It worked several people saw what was going on and I think the man realized he messed up. I was able to pull around the cars in front of me and parked behind his car. The man slammed the car door and he came passed my window. I told him it was animal crudity to do such a thing. He just kept walking. I called the police 911 they patched me through to our Police. I told the lady who I was and that I had him blocked. She told me to call her back if he tried to leave. He came out and started yelling at me to move my car. I called the police back to tell her he was trying to leave. She said the police were close, the man yelled at me that his dad worked for the county, I told him the police were coming. He then told the little boy that if he was arrested for crudity to animals he would whip his ass. I stayed in my truck with the windows up, the police came fast. The man admitted to the police that he hit the dog, he told them he hit the dog three times and that that was the first time he had ever hit his dog. I truly don’t know how many time he hit the dog I know it seems like much more than three. He used his fist not a open hand. The policeman spoke to me and another lady that saw it. I don’t know what the police said or did to the man. Animal Control showed up. I saw a lady speaking to the man but could not hear what was being said. I saw the man take the dog to the animal control truck. I was concerned about the child. Poor child was losing his best friend (the dog). He had also been threatened by his father. I just hope the boy and the dog will be ok. I felt like if a man would beat his dog he would beat his child. I do know he was ticked. I left before I knew what they did to him. I guess I will go to court on it.
I really feel bad for the child, I do have my name on the list to adopt the dog. I know the dog will be ok That poor child. I was told that social services was called because the man was cruel to the boy in front of authority's. When I got home I had a call from Animal control, they told me I could have the dog, that his owner gave her up. I now own a sweet mutt named Lucky that is what the little boy called him. Animal control let the boy know Lucky was going to a good home. The man won't hurt the boy cause he knows he is in deep crap.
That is what I get when I go off LOL.

NUMBER 4 ! As soon as I get some new batteries for my cam I will take a picture. I feel so good I am my grandsons hero Wink !

My grandson did say I should not of called the guy a A Hole when I told the guy that it was animal abuse. Yep I did say that. I asked for forgiveness.

When the cops came the guy said his dad worked for the county, I said well how does that excuse you from being a jerk ! The policeman laughed and said that is a good one LOL !

Lucky is so happy he played with our dogs and has settled right in and she loves JD !

It's too bad you couldn't take the little boy home too !!! I just can't believe how awful some people can be to children and animals. They are both so helpless. I can't wait to see pictures. Lucky is so fortunate to be away from that ***hole!!!

You did good Elaine!  Give Lucky a big hug from me.  Smiley

I do feel for that little boy.  I hope they keep an eye on the father for a very long time.  People like that usually don't change.  Sad

There definetly should be more of you to go around the world.  Thank God you were there for the dog and the boy.  I feel bad for the little boy to loose his pet dog.  However, I am sure they are both in a much happier safer place.

Effin KEWL, Lady E!!!

BUT, not to rain on your parade, BUT, I did that same trick with a guy (parked my car behind his, until the police got there).  The policeman thanked me, and then proceeded to read me the riot act.

As he said, in today's world, how did I know that the guy did not have a hair trigger temper, and have a gun in his car?  He thanked me, but told me to please think seriously about what I was doing, before I ever did that again.

BUT, like you, if I had witnessed what you did, I might have done the same thing, even with the possible danger.  After all, SOMEONE has to stand up for those that can't stand up for themselves!

You ROCK, Lady E!!

Update. Lucky has a new home. I knew a family that just lost their dog to cancer and their children were heart broken. So we took lucky to the vet and had all her shots and his hip checked out. Her was only bruised badly and his hip will be AOK. We delivered her to her new family and all is happy. I just got off the phone and they have all been playing all day.
Lucky likes to swim and went swimming with his new family.

The little boy has been placed in his grandparents care on his mothers side. The couple was divorced and looks like lived with his father. The Mother does not live where she can have children more than two days a week. She is moving to a bigger apartment but the child will stay at her mothers until then. The father will only have supervised visits at the Family and children center.
The mother has been fighting for  the child, this might give her the lead way she needs to gain custody . Maybe all will work out. I pray it will.

What a nice ending to what could have been a major tragedy. You should really be feeling good for what you've done. It was a wonderful act of kindness, even though Chuck is right, a bit risky. Um did I say Chuck was right???? Taking thar risk may have saved the life of the dog and the boy. Good work!!!

He sure is Lucky..! You did a good turn Elaine. Smiley
Don't worry about the kid, if social services are doing their job any individual convicted of animal cruelty who has kids will be on their radar.
