I'M HURTING LIKE HELL!!! I told idiot son to let ya'll know I LIVED so Chuck would cancel the insurance policy, but this stuff HURTS!!!

Just took a pain pill so I'm not sure how coherent this will be, but I want to share something with ya'll.

There's a sleep doc (can't spell antheez...) Anyhow, he came in to talk to me and I told him I had CH and the sleep stuff might trigger a CH and he needed to be aware of this - before I could say anything else, he said, "Don't worry we have pain meds for that." RED FLAG!

So I pipped up and said, "You might as well give me a glass of water as YOUR pain meds for a CH - now let's talk about CH - What do you KNOW about CH?" He answered "Not much, I've heard of them." So I proceed to tell him I want O2 (with a non-rebreather mask) standing by as well as an imitrex injection. He asks who "ordered" it and I give him my neuro's name. He "assures" me that should a CH occur he'll "call" my neuro and discuss this with him and starts out the door.

WRING MOVE!!! I sorta lost it and told him to get his shiney butt back in this room and we were gonna have a little discussion on CH and I'd talk real slow so he could understand what I was trying to impart unto him! I then explaine that should I have a CH - there was NO WINDOW to call my neuro and discuss a damn thing - we would call NOW (and gave him the number) and get this all worked out BEFORE I went to sleep IN CASE I needed it and gave him the reasons WHY. Well, lo and behold - 5 minutes later the boy was back in the room telling me the O2 was set up and the mask was hooked up and the imitrex was on the way and would be there should I need it. I GOT THRU TO HIM.

After the surgery I didn't get hit (thank goodness) but that nice doc was in the recovery room ASKING me what I needed. When I was telling him I wanted something for the pain I was having, he even offered me a glass of water (he ALSO had a sense of humor!!! Smiley) He did give me something for pain and asked me more about CH.  Anyhow when he called my neuro, he was told to do what I said and not to aruge with me about this one. He said next time a patient said they had CH, he'd know a lot more than he did this mornig.

So I guess I go back to what we've all been saying - you are your best advocate.

Caleb came home with me and has been taking excellent care of me. The poor kid is worn out from waking me up when I doze off to see if I'm ok. Wink He's escorted me to the bathroom (I thought this was unnecessary, but he insisted cause I might be dizzy) and has loved on the new dog all day. And he's helped me change my nose pad when it gets bloody. His dad came to get him and he told him he just couldn't leave cause Granny "needed" him right now. I really think he didn't want to leave Prissy (the new Boston Terrier) but I'll take what I can get.

So it's three in the morning and I"m talking to you guys cause it hurts to lay down (Prissy and Caleb have about taken over the bed right now anyhow  Smiley) I'm pacing till the pain pill takes over - damn this hurts - ok he told me it would be painful, but he did tell me THIS painful... CH I can handle, but "normal" pain HURTS! Angry

Hugs BD

That nosy's been running a crooked business controlling the shipping docks importing air.  He'd prefer if you had a bone to pick, just try sticking a finger into his operation and he'd get sum'da union boys to raise some snot whicha.

Way to straighten his butt out, Barb.    Wink

You've created a dedicated little Caleb kid.    Smiley

Saved some bon bon vibes for you.     Kiss

Barb - That was actually MORE coherent than usual. You might want to consider taking that stuff all the time.  Grin

Kidding aside, I'm thankful you were able to write that. Tells me you're gonna be just fine. Prayers answered.

We'll continue shooting a few hopes and wishes upstairs for your recovery, and you continue doing what the good doc tells you to. Glad to hear you're up and around.

Gald you're out of surgery.  Not had CH, but have had nose surgery and also watched Jimbo and Sarah recover (4 between the two of them) and know how damned bad it hurts.

Now, at the risk of repeating myself, best to try and sleep in a recliner, will help keep the swelling and bruising down.  Also, stay off your damned feet!

Glad all went well Barb and you managed to teach that doc a thing or two before he knocked you out!

Now get resting and feel better soon.

I like it when you sound ornery Barb........

My father once said to his sawbones: "If when I wake up you let me hook electrodes to your scrotum so I have the option of registering with you my pain level; I'll believe you when you tell me that it won't hurt."

You're gonna be all right though Barb.
