Wow so I'm not curesed by a witch w/ voodoo doll!!

I can not tell you how hard it is to explain to friends and family that a
head ache is destroying my life (but I'll be damned if it takes my fight
to live away or makes me malaise about my life). I think cluster head
ache need to be renamed something move appropriate and clever
like the "impalement torture rack attack"  because I've had a head ache and to call what was transpiring was no "headache".

I was treated for migraine's at the er and sent home obviously nothing worked, after 3 meds, and 2 shots of some other medication I heard them conversing outside, this snide doctor was talking about drug seekers, and how to spot them. The uneducated audacity at that moment I felt like breaking his nose and explaining to my mother how these doctors are always tyring to get other colleges to write narcotic scrips for themselves. But obviously I was a "little preoccupied" with for all I knew at the time was torture. I thought I had experienced pain, and oh I had and it was a ten but hell was this a new 10.

Anyway after loosing my job and  a year later finally getting insurance I thought I could find some answers, but every day, or night for that matter, felt like eternity. And to finally find people going through this that don't understand on a clinical level but a personal level is such a relief. And to finally stop reassuring myself after seeing doctors this absolutely was not all in my head. (no pun intended)

Thank you to all who initiated this web page. God bless to those with families, I can only imagine trying to survive while provide all the love and attention for them as well. And to all you cluster fighters and survivors, never give up, I felt utterly hopeless and when the doctors are clueless things became no less painful and a lot more discouraging. But as a NEWB here I and thankful to all for  the wealth of information. I will devour digest and execute. And hopefully I can be of some support because I know I will to beat this monster. Thx for listening

I like your attitude!!! Wink We have a saying we've coined on the board, "Live your life between the hits!" However, there's no need to just sit back and wait to get creamed. What works for many is a 2 pronged approach:

1: A good prevent. A med you take daily while on cycle to reduce number and intensity of hits. I use lithium, verapamil is also a popular one. Others to read about and talk to your doc about.

2: A good abortive. An attack starts, now what? Oxygen should be your first line abortive. I can abort an attack in 6-8 minutes using 02. Read the link on the left as it must be used correctly to be effective.

Imitrex injectables and nasal sprays are also very effective. For now, try chugging an energy drink when you feel ojne coming on. Monster, Rock Star, any containing the combo of caffeine and taurine. Many can abort or at least reduce the intensity of their attack using energy drinks.

You have much reading to do, glad you found us, you're not alone anymore!

Any way try mask tonight lol guess if i'm up i'm up so why not a red bull didn't even think of the effect of caffeine and taurine on blood vessels. I have ample reading to do just found you a week ago, and gotta love google. Thanks for fast reply and advice

You sound pretty squared away already! Only thing to add to the 02 is make sure it's a high flow regulator, preferably 15 LPM or better. Depending on the depth and speed of your breathing.....for 02 to work,  your lungs must get 02 only, no outside air, no exhaled air. Most of us require at least 15 LPM to accomplish that.

Hoping it works as well for you as it has for me!
