Hey kids,
I am one of those episodics that get out of the loop cause we feel so dam normal for awhile.
what brings me back is a question about another fixer. This one my mother gleaned from something she read or saw on TV.
It is called Kudzu. I read a wee bit about it, but I always get the real scoop here.

I also heard about Kudzu and have been taking it along with a couple of other herbals for just over a week now.

I have noticed a decrease in my CH attacks!!

Granted it may not work for everyone but even on Dr prescribed meds I was still getting 2 per week on a good week.  I have only had shadows one day this week.  WOOO HOOO  I hope it's due to the herbals I've added, but would prefer to give it more time to see for sure.   Wink

More Info on Kudzu:
Kudzu (pueraria lobata) may relieve muscular tension and spasms, fevers associated with flu and colds, colitis, sudden nerve deafness, hypertension, dysentery, thirst, headache, allergies, diarrhea, angina pectoris, and offers support for alcohol withdrawal.

If you will go to the Meds and Treatments section of the board you can find a couple of good threads on Kudzu.  Nani had one up some time ago that was quite extensive.

I've been using Kudzu for the last couple of years instead of Verap and Lithium because I get about the same preventative action without all of the bad side effects I was getting with the others.

Research it extensively before you try because as with all herbals there is little or no regulation for quality or strength.  You can find some recommendations on the above mentioned thread.  Personally, I'm using Nature's Way Kudzu Root.  I was getting it at a local health food store (organic), but recently started getting it online for about 2/3 of the price.

PM me if you would like any other help. (No, I do not sell it or have any interest in it)

Jerry

Edit to add:  Click on the button on the left for the "old m-board" to look up Nani's post.  It was from before this new board was introduced.

Here is Killowatt3’s “concoction”, which was dubbed “Synergy”:

Kudzu - 1000 mg, 2x per day (morning & night)
Magnesium - 250 mg, 2x per day (morning & night)
St. John's Wort - 300 mg, 2x per day (morning & night)
Skullcap - 425 mg at bedtime
Melatonin - 10 mg at bedtime

I believe it has reduced the number of attacks and when they do occur they seem milder.  A Calcium supplement may help alleviate the gastric issues.
