Amitriptyline and Topiramate
Jul 30th, 2009 at 12:13pm

4 days ago a hospital neuro started me on a course of Amitriptyline and Topiramate for preventative.

I have been feeling like a very forgetful zombie!

I have just rang my GP to ask him if we can scrap the Amitriptyline. He said yes.

Will this aggrevate the beast?

a neuro put me on amitriptyline a while back, i felt like a zombie as well, i didnt care about anything, and to top that it provided no benefit for ch for me anyways

are you still in pain? god i hope not i read your posts i get ch but god dam, what your describing is crazy, im here for ya

i know of the distant ache after an attack that wont go away and its not terrible but there enough to effect you.
ibuprofen always helped that for me but i can take it cuz of the lithium

can you get prednisone? a tapering dose for a few weeks? works miracles for me

this sounds silly but i have aborted ch's and other headaches by what i call shocking, turn you shower on, ice cold let it run for a minute and just hop in until its unbearable and get back out, dry off doesnt work all the time but for me when nothin else does it will

I actually feel a bit better this afternoon, about kip 2 Smiley

I have even managed to do some ironing LOL

I tried some of those steriod drugs. It never really reduced the attacks and I think that lessening the dose is what got me into the kip 9 situation in the first place :S

That's why I'm so twitchcy about changing meds...

Joanne,

For some topiramate is all that is needed - so I wouldn't worry about it (dropping one med aggravating things), as you said - the side effects of both were too much to bear!  Just give it a try and keep your fingers crossed!   Wink

Glad you are feeling better-

(Should ALwaYs Cut off/ pull out the straps of the mask that comes on the non-rebreather mask.  It's not good to keep them on - as you figured out.  Just hold it to your face.  If you fall asleep, it falls off that way!!)
Glad you are feeling a bit better!

Thanks Val

High school science dictates that in any test you only change one factor at a time, right?

And if Topiramate means I lose a few pounds well LMAO it's not going to be the end of the world if I get back in to my thin jeans  Smiley

Gosh I'm vain ha ha!
