It could actually be just the reverse. In order to get CH's there would be a trigger. It could be the food allergies your getting are triggering the CH's.

Hi Campergirl. I haven't heard of this being associated with ch. Some of us have allergies and some don't. I have food sensitivities.

The thing about ch, it won't kill you.

I have severe allergies, histamine intolerance syndrome....I had it before the CH. (I've had it all of my life, my immune system runs on pure SPITE. It hates everything.)

However, the CH does trigger my hives. But that's due to me releasing more histamine when stressed and in pain. I've had anaphylaxis AND a hit at the same time, and that was NOT fun.

I'd get to an allergist. There's a lot they can do to help with the allergies. If you're not in the US, you may want to ask about Ketotifen. It's the best antihistamine out there, and currently is what I owe being able to live a normal life to.

Hope you get things resolved soon.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

No food alergies here.... Just seems when everyone has "sinus" trouble is when I get hit the worst. And of course my head goes right along with the barometer... It goes to around 30 and over and I'm gonna get hit - the higher it goes the worse I'm gonna get hit.

Ya know -- a lot of people have trouble with barometric pressure hurting them -- maybe we should do a "scientific" study on that. I've been "watching" it for about the last year but not documenting it. Might prove to be interesting...

But back to food alergies -- a lot of people here are triggered by MSG and have to watch it real close. Some have to watch chocolate and of course alcohol triggers a big part of this community.

But in all the years I've been around we just haven't pinpointed any ONE thing...

yes (crab and shrimp, which ironically I used to make my living evaluating), and I carry an epi pen....

also later life hay fever...neither seem connected with ch in any way I can determine (both happened years after clusterville membership...)

Best,

Thanks all to a crazy question. I really didn't think there was a connection but just wondered. I was thinking of all the medicines we take if it changes our bodies? Predinson did me!!

I too carry an epi pen!

In the last 5 yrs I noticed beef would give me hives. So I stopped eating beef, that took awhile to figure out. After about 2 yrs I ate a hamburger and had that shock thing where they about lose you! So I then was tested.

Can't have beef, pork, venison.
Lettuce or milk are the big ones.
Some fish and a few nuts. Cranberries and bananas either.

I take 5 fish oils a day and 2 probiotics for the food allergies.

Nope - nothing that is bad enough to kill me in an immediate way. I do have chronic sinusitis, and might have some 'subtle' food allergies that are not as obvious as the ones that can cause anaphylactic shock.

Some researchers (led by the Italians) talk about a 'neuroimmune' theory of clusters.  There may be something to it, as certain immune hormones (TNF, IL-6, etc) tend to be elevated in clusterheads.  There is no doubt that immune disturbances can spill over into the neurotransmitter world. But at this point, not much can directly be done ... avoid allergens, use antihistamines or other meds for CH that incidentally have a good effect on both the immune system and neurotransmitters.

I wanted to say, if any of you with the life-threatening allergies are not in the US, ask your doctor about an allergy medication called Ketotifen. This medication has given my life back to me.

I had to use an epi pen almost every time I left the house before this drug.

My allergist worked with the company that wanted the FDA to approve it for asthma, which unless it's allergy induced, does not work. It has given me my life back. I haven't had to use an epi pen except for maybe twice, due to drug allergies. Not due to some random person's perfume closing my throat up. My allergist writes the prescription, and I get the medication from Canada.

Hope this helps someone else.

My only food allergy is that everything I eat makes me swell up in the middle.

No food allergies bad enough to kill me but at least 4 that make me DAMN uncomfortable.

I can't eat eggs, banana's and have to severely limit how much if any I eat of potatoes or avocado's.  I have discovered through a bit of research that it is the potassium in each that I can't handle, they give me a SEVERE stomach ache, enough to double me over moaning and groaning for hours after-wards.

Oh Ya and Milk... lets just say (without going into detail) that milks not a good idea for me either.    Roll Eyes

Yes. So bad, in fact, that my food allergy killed me decades ago.

No.  While I was episodic Nitrites and Nitrates would trigger me, so no ham or bacon and very little lunchmeat or hot dogs.  Since going chronic they bother me very little most of the time.
