Mike Monsoor memorial
Aug 4th, 2009 at 11:12am

Heard something on the news on this, but can't be sure that is the actual story. The email I received said it was verified by Snopes. I looked quick, but could not find it. I guess if I'm gonna be deceived by junk emails, I like this one better than there will be no news taxes on the middle class.

Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor

PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was
awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
giving his life to save his fellow Seals.
(Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD.
He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS..)

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego ,
as his coffin was being moved from the hearse
to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery , SEAL's were lined up on both sides
of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's,
with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's
coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his
gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down
embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side,
it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it

This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero..

This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see every day..
Since the media won't make this news,

I choose to make it news by forwarding it .

I am very proud of our military. If you are proud too, please pass this on.  If not then rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect.

God Bless our Troops

Mike

The pics didn't come through, but it showed a coffin with many Pins (for a lack of better terms from one does not now what a trident is)

It must be raining in my computer room.  Cry

When Michael Jackson died every news media person kept calling him a pop hero, a man to be remembered for the ages, a man with a pure heart.  etc. etc.  bleagh!

This man and so many others who do similar acts of bravery are the true heros of this world.

If you go to Snopes & do a search on his name, it will verify the story.  It also includes a memorial video clip that should bring any American to tears.  Thank you Mike, from all of us.

I couldn't agree with you more!  This man was DEFINITELY a hero!

Here, I have to disagree with you.  I think there are MANY more out there, both in the military and the civilian world.  The only difference is that all we hear about are the rock stars, movie stars, murderers, rapists, bank robbers, embezzlers, and all the rest, but we rarely hear about the everyday heroes that are out there.

People like your local law enforcement, or maybe a teacher, or even the grocery bagger.  OR someone like our own personal CH hero, Deej, or even Dr. Goadsby.

I happen to believe that there are plenty that qualify as heroes out there that we just never hear about.

Chuck

What Chck said!  Geez, did I just agree with Chuck?  You bet I did!!!  He was just one example of so many of the young men and women who are wearing our uniforms, and most never receive the recognition for what they do or for the most part don't even want it.  They know the job they are doing.  The recognition given Monsoor by his peers is all they want.  The recognize the respect from others who KNOW what it is they have done.

RIP Petty Officer Monsoor.

The story is very true...  Petty Officer Second Class Mike Monsoor was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

As Chuck said, there have been many Americans since our great Nation came into existance, that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow Americans, warfigrhers, and comrades in arms.  It's called "Uncommon Valor."

We will survive the social progressive attacks...

Take care,

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

Leave it to Batch to try to turn this into a divisive topic, when such acts of heroism and self-sacrifice can be an inspiration to all.

Sadly that about sums it up for the way news deals with serious stories.

A hero he is.

Batch, he was an EOD not a SEAL, which you should know being a fellow squid. Heroes no matter how you measure them.

I didn't need Snopes. It was on CNN. Sadly though, it was just a blip on the radar.

And yes, this is something EVERY American should see!

I suppose if your side consistently wears larger flag pins, y'all must be more patriotic, Marc.

In the last election round, troops deployed overseas gave contributions overwhelmingly to which party?  Which new administration instituted an increase in military pay and veterans benefits not seen since WWII?  Yeah, those would be more examples of reality being contrary to certain slanted political opinions.

Take it to another thread you two.
