I asked the same question myself, but I just recently was approved for SSDI after the first try.  Just be as detailed as possible to the point of being repetitive (a lady who worked for SS told me that is the best way to get approved, and it worked for me).

I applied for ssdi for chronic cluster headaches and depression that went with it.  I was denighed for the ch but approved for the depression.  Go figure.  I got 8 ch a day.  Ea. lasting 1 1/2 hrs long.  every day of the year with a 1 week break if I was lucky.  Non of the preventatives were working for me at that time. I couldn't do anything much less concentrate to work.  Plus I got 8 migraines a month and was in the ER about 10 times a month.  I missed lots of days from work and took off early countless times and hid in the toilet lots of times to.  I was very happy to be awarded ssdi but very confused as to why I didn't get it for ch.

This was fate, I was just l was just looking up info on SSI for clusters.  I'm 7+ months into this cycle and nothing (even 02) is working for me.  I've missed 4 days of work this month alone for the pain.  I knwo my work is slipping not to mention what doesn't get done when I'm not there.  I don't want to go on SSI as financially it would really hurt us....but if I can't get some relief I may not have a choice.  I'm averaging 2-6 hits a day with half of them being level 8-10.  I'm up to 13 pills a day as preventative to try and break the cycle.  I give myself 2-3 shots at least twice a week, and use nasal spray in between.  I use the O2 when the pain gets too bad and I need 5-15 minutes of relief (unfortunately it only works  for me when the mask is on, as soon as it's off the pains back), and I take narcotics to take enough of the edge off so I'm not in a ball rocking back and forth.
