Holy First Ammendment Batman!!!

David is stepping up to face Goliath once again.

I learned today, that a couple who I once worked with, has indeed invested their entire savings to start up a community weekly newspaper to compete with our former employer.

I called them today to congratulate them on taking such a big risk, and applaud their brass sets.

The call culminated in a meeting with them next week to view their new venture, and possibly come on as commission only ad rep.

I never thought I would consider a commission only Avenue, but I know the Market, and I know the displeasure the Businesses have with the Goliath in the community.

And to work with someone who can gain a huge market on the demise of a Giant who destroyed so many good careers gets my vote.

Meeting with them next week and we'll see where this leads...could be promising, could be a wash....but who knows...

I know the advertising base community has been begging for an alternative avenue for years....

Now they have one....Prime opportunity.....if managed right.

I've never looked forward to a meeting with this much enthusiasm before, and I don't even know for sure if they would want me.

But any opportunity to poke back at the company that calculated my demise...after telling my job was secure not 3 months before I was relieved of my duties...YEAH I'll listen to what the new folks have to say........

This may be the opportunity you've been waiting so long for - time to get back to work! If you know the folks and feel good about them - commission only isn't a bad thing. (Coming from a 20 year sales and marketing guy Roll Eyes

)

BUT, I agree about them having brass sets to actually invest their life savings in a newspaper today. Wow.......
