Hi All -

I've looked at this site a few tims over the years. I'm just starting a new cycle and so I'm not.....very happy.

I started CH's about 20 years ago, in my early 30's. I'm now 52. Initially they were 4'snand 5's withthe ocasional 6 or 7. They were chronic. That lasted for maybe 5 years. Then they became sort-of episodic, with 2 - 4 weeks of every now and them - but they started getting worse, with maxes of 8 or so.
Eventually they got diagnosed (no drugs helped save getting something cold and that not much) and then they've settled into a reasonably regular pattern: 5 - 6 months on, 18 - 19 months off.
I've been looking forwards to August this year for 18 months and I've not been disappointed: 7th Aug 0030 I woke up and thought 'Yep,they're back.'.
I expect that over the next 5 - 6 months they will get worseand worse and worse, and then tail off rapidly. I'm not looking forward to any of it, but I expect to survive although there will be moments when I won't want to.
I'm lucky in that 95+% of attacks ocur at night - on my time - so myjob is not threatened. I just have to get through the days when I'm
tired..

Still, the idea of the pain in the next six months is not enticing.

I should say that I find drinking White wine is as good a preventative and ameliorator as I've found: white wine is a vaso-constrictor as opposed to red which is a vaso-dilator. Seems to work for me, a bit anyway.

My sister has MS which is pretty painful, so I don't want to complain to much;  I just though I'd share my dread of the next few months and cheeryou all up!

Godblessyou all!

Welcome,

IMHO, the jury is still out on vascular dilation being an actual cause of the attacks.

BUT, alcohol in any form tends to hurt an awful lot episodic sufferers based on 10+ years of reporting here.

Have you tried zero alcohol?

Several years ago: a report from Europe that red wine was a trigger for CH but not white wine; all spirits bad news.
