This link is also really really interesting.  It is not all about anxiety, but a lot of real good info.   I am sure a lot of it can help many.

I'm sorry to say, but I have never read worse BS than that from this  snake oil vending health911 site, not even the recently referenced Fox News elaboration.  Angry

OMG LMAO

Oh how I wish people would get their facts straight on CH before coming up with statements like...

Quote:
Cluster. This form of headache usually strikes men who smoke and drink and will recur over several weeks, with pain generally centering in one eye.

Lets see how many women are there here that suffer with CH ???  Anyone for a tally?

Smiley I'll go first... I am female and don't drink because it's a nasty trigger for me.  (DAMN I MISS HAVING A BEER NOW AN THEN!)  I smoke 1/2 pack per day.

Actually that statement is true.  Clusters strike more men than women and those men have a higher incidence of smoking and drinking than the general population.

The way it is written does not really co-notate that.
It states that it "usually strikes men" in essence it is poorly written, not to mention poorly researched.

Granted they do have a few known remedies but none that really work for CH that I can see other than watching your diet on some things.

Also it doesn't mention the fact that over the years many women have been misdiagnosed initially due to the belief that it is mostly men that get CH.  It may be that more men are diagnosed with CH than women due to this previously held belief that men get CH not women.

Sorry it just gets under my skin, if you are going to do something be it writing an article or anything else you should do it well and right the 1st time.

Keep in mind all of the above is my personal opinion feel free to disagree.  Stepping off my soap box and away from this thread  Cheesy   Roll Eyes

I'm with Ginger S on this one. Plus she's got a cool avatar.  Grin

When an article starts right off by parroting ancient BS misinformation like that it's hard to take it real seriously.

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

I agree, there is a whole lot ov mis-information and outright bull on the health911 site.

However...I did learn one thing - bruxism.  I definitely suffer from bruxism, plus the jaw clending during the day (jaw is clenched as I type this).

Now understand, I KNOW bruxism does not cause my CH.  It may cause tension headaches, TMG, whatever, but not CH.

But, they mention calcium and magnesium taken before bedtime may alleviate the bruxism at night (my husband complains about me grinding my teeth, while I complain about his snoring  Undecided)

I'm gonna try the calcium and magnesium and see if it helps.  What do I have to lose?

Thanks for the link.

Oh, I'm a woman with CH too.

Sandy

I am a woman who suffers with clusters and I have been experimenting with naturopathic remedies for the cluster that I am currently in...this link was great not BS at all!  So thank you for your post.  This cluster has been the mildest of any that I have ever experienced thanks to a number of the "folk" remedies that this link contained.  I take a supplement called Migra-Clear perscribed by my naturopath and it contains many of the herbs and vitamins that this site mentioned.

I agree, that I was put off by the intro...clusters effect males who smoke and drink.  I don't smoke...I also avoid second hand smoke at all cost, and I am a moderate drinker.  A beer or glass of wine with dinner (not when I am in the middle of a cluster though) I also don't really buy the environmental causes, maybe for other headaches, but not clusters.  I have experienced clusters in 3 different areas of the country that I have lived in over the past 8 years.
I would sugest that all the cluster heads at least try the naturopathic remedies with an open mind.  They are a hell of a lot better than Imitrex and steriods.  I have been there done that too and the cycles last A LOT longer and the rebound headaches are A LOT more painful.

Another "folk" remedy that I find helpful as a preventive that wasn't mentioned in the link...you know that nasty stuffy nose you get on the side of your face where the clusters attack?  If I can prevent that from coming on the clusters are a lot less severe.  I use a netti pot.  It clears out your sinuses with salt water and reduces that congestion a bit.

For those of your cluster heads that smoke...get motivated and QUIT!  I mean seriously is that nicotine worth the absoulte torture that you experience when "the beast" attacks?!

It takes persistance and a lot more work but it is totally worth it if you want shorter cycles and less painful attacks.  I am not going to say that the headaches go away all together, but they do majorly improve.

Yes....I was hoping someone would read past the junk, and see the good things in the article.
You have to have an open mind. I don't think any article on ch is spot on.
I also use the netti pot...works really well. I use choloidal silver in mine with a little salt. Wonderful.

I am currently using the Verapamil , and having wildly fluctuating blood pressure, So am looking for any good alternatives.
I know the articles are long, and most folks would not get past the first part.   But I found a lot of good info in there.
Have to believe that a lot of folks are deficient in magnesium, as well as a lot of others.
Its worth a try anyway.
Knowledge is key.          good day    Lorac
