Botox? what? how???

Shocked

Was reading thru some old entries in the guest book and came across some interesting stuff here:
********************************************

"Never in my wildest hopes - after suffering horribly with cluster for decades - did I expect an end to my headaches from a product that relaxes wrinkles. I have not had a cluster attack in nearly 5 years - unheard of before. Every time I get warning signals, I check the calendar and sure enough it is time for more Botox. I'm sure Botox is not for everyone, but it is recognized among the medical profession, some insurance companies and FDA. I choose to get Botox injections from a plastic surgeon and therefore don't use insurance, because it is simple, painless and effective. Even though I may still be experiencing cluster attacks, the fact is I don't feel pain. That's good enough for me!

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

I get ch and migraines.  My dr/neuro recomended I try botox for my ch.  I tried it and it did nothing for my ch only stopped my migraines in there tracks.  You get a series of injections into your scalp of botox every 3-4 months for as long as needed.  I did this for a few years and then I  had a hysterectomy and that stopped my migraines dead in there tracks so I no longer needed the botox.  Wish it would have stopped my ch as well.

The evaluation research on Botox puts it at the bottom of the list in effectiveness, which is not to say that some individuals may find it helpful.

Overall, I believe it more productive to use those meds which have a long, good track record and consider the new stuff only if the older products don't work for you.
