One hit wonder.
Aug 27th, 2009 at 4:59pm

Two nights ago I was awakened by a CH attack.
Clearly I was expecting more after that, but 48 hours orso later nothing else has happened.

What do you all make of this?

Well, if it's outside of your normal cycle, I've seen people post about having rogue hits... Some here and there between cycles.

As far as I'm concerned, cluster busting has been the best treatment I've tried. No migraines since I started it, and my hits have gotten so much better. Wanna know more?

Same thing happened to me the morning of August 2. Nothing since. I've been out of cycle for 8 months.

Scared me a little and I did have to use the O2. Just a friendly reminder I guess.

Good Luck, Don

Rogue hit, for sure.

I used to get them more often when I was younger.  Not so much anymore.

Best,

I guess you guys are right, it was a rogue hit.
Never experienced one before that wasn't part of a whole bunch.

Still scary, lol.

Have never experienced a rogue hit. Does sound pretty unnerving!

Have had plenty of rogue shadows though.....wondering how many of you rogue hit experiencers had it get to the point of being a high kip level attack, as opposed to it being more a case of feeling something coming on and having an abortive on hand to deal with it without waiting around to see whether it was destined to be more of a half or full intensity hit?

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

Rogue hits are not uncommon for me. Happens about once a month. Been happening for years. Taking an afternoon nap is a sure way to trigger one.

Ok then....I went 3 yrs undiagnosed with no meds...and later 7 yrs no meds by choice...so, 10 yrs here too...

making a statement like the above REQUIRES more info...PLEASE. Sounds like you were undiagnosed...but we don't know that...

Best,

Jon

Clusters without meds or any other relief are much more than unnerving, there's no doubt about that!! Shocked My no meds "career"  Cheesy lasted for my first 5 years or so, so you got twice as many points as me.  Smiley

I was almost CH free for 5 years, till this summer I started a cycle. I do remember having one rogue attack once three or four summers ago. They are strange indeed.

I got a "rogue" hit back in April...my usual cycle was pre-Thanksgiving to just after New Years...so it was a complete shock.  Unfortunately, the shock has turned to horror, as I'm still in this "new cycle" four+ months later...  I'm fearful that I've gone "chronic".  Doc now has me on 480mg of Verapamil a day...  I have alternating battles with my insurance company over Imitrex vs Zomig nasal...although now there's a NEW Imitrex generic that's a WHOLE lot cheaper.
No, I haven't gotten the O2 yet...but if this keeps up, I surely will.
And to share in everyone's historic agony, went 7 years with no meds...how did I, how did WE survive?

Posted earlier....would a Facebook group make sense to attract more sufferers and to help the world know and understand?

This is interesting. I just returned to this site yesterday after 3 CH free years. I got hit hard yesterday with a 7-8 and thought, hell! Here we go again. Just when I thought I might be done with these things. Well now, 24 hours later I have not had another hit. Very strange to me. Never had a rogue hit before but I'm hoping that's all it was. I guess we'll see!  Undecided
