Oh Man!!!! I sure feel your frustration dude! I have an entire family and a husband that is doing similar things and if misery loves company you have lots. I am currently in therapy over crap like that because I am so angry I actually have made myself worse. Try to relax, take it one day at a time (or 5 min at a time) and try not to choke the life out of the next person who annoys you like that. I hear the health care in prison sucks! Iffen ya wanna vent, just lemme know. I have had lots and lots of support here when I need to vent, I would love to return the favor. Big gentle supporting hugs from Denmark, Sophia Smiley

I am a religious/spiritual person who believes in the Bible.  I need to say that so that those who wish to make fun of my beliefs can get their zingers ready.

My wife told me before this last cycle that she was praying to God that the headaches wouldn't come this time.  She told me she KNEW they would not be bad this time and maybe might not come at all.  I told her that while I prayed the same, i didn't expect anything.  (you have to understand that she has only a few times ever KNOWN something this strongly)

She was right.  This past cycle was extremely tame.  Only had to use O2 a half dozen or fewer times and never went to anything else.

Now, we all know that CH aint exact so those who wish not to attribute it to God, that is your right but I do attribute it to Him.  For whatever reason, he wished to relieve this pain this time and I thank Him for it.  It was not a my strong faith or me deserving it that made it happen, it was His plan for me for whatever reason.

I have had kidney stones, gallstones, and CH.  Despite the pain, I am thankful for all God has done for me, but never did he cure me just through prayer.

Do I think those who believe God can help or cure them are crazy?  Nope.  Do I believe that anyone who asks can miss out on a cure due to lack of faith..... nope.  It comes down to His plan for our lives.  Mine has included pain which had me begging Him to take me many times.

Now, I can say that He has done many things for me through my CH that may be part of the reason I have had them.

1.  He has brought me many friends who I love dearly.
2.  He has showed me that my irrational lack of comfort around homosexual men was something in me that I needed to get rid of.  Through my CH I can honestly say that I no longer have this problem.
3.  He has helped me realize how important the health of my children is.

Now, He might have more reasons for my suffering through CH, but I can honestly say that I am blessed to have had CH because of these reasons.  I wish to never have another cluster headache again, but if I do, I believe there is a purpose for them (in MY life) and after cursing and saying a bunch of things I will not be proud of, I know He will forgive me.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling but I hope people realize that people who belittle people for their beliefs are no better than those who misuse their beliefs to belittle others.

Brew, my friend, I guess I am just one of those idiots who "religionize" too much.  Sorry.

Eric - This is a far different thing than telling one's spouse that he still has CH because he doesn't have enough faith.

"Religionize" it all you want, as long as you don't attempt to stuff it down anyone else's throat. I'm sure you see the difference.

I do see the difference.  However, I do "religionize" most things.  Shoot, I think God even put you and your family in my life for a reason...... maybe I need to rethink that  Tongue  (jk)

You should consider sticking around during those pain-free times - to help those who could use it.

I've always believed that God helps those who help themselves..... in other words, teamwork......along with Drs, spouses, supporters.  It takes ALL of you, overturning rocks, trying new things till...ZING!  One day, it all falls into place......it's not just a prayer, nor is it just a pill....
Lawrence, please remind your wife of this, and ask for her help, rather than her pontification, please?

Dear OP,

I am so sorry, but your wife needs to be much more educated on CH.

God and faith have nothing to do with the beast. Here's an advice that I hope you may find better than faith over CH attacks, it was originally presented by my neurologist who is the dean of faculty of medicine - Alexandria University (Dr. Farouk Talaat):

1- This combination of meds may be very helpful:

A- With Breakfast:

1 tablet of Pryanil + half tablet of Inderal 40 mgms.

B- With Lunch:

1 Tablet of Depakin + half tablet of Inderal 40 mgms.

C- With Dinner:

1 Tablet of Pryanil (Lithium Blocker) + 1 tablet of Isopten (verapamil).

2- AVOID ALCOHOL TOTALLY DURING THE CH BOUT!!!

3- Regulate your sleep. Regulating your sleep HELPS!

4- Best thing to take during an attack is Imigran injection, otherwise use 100% oxygen ( 10 liters - for 20 minutes), or Zomig (Zolmitriptan). Imigran tablets are entirely worthless.

5- When you wake up, drinking heavy coffee is not bad AT ALL.

Best luck to you, and to all of us.

Faith is all nice and good if it works for you. Nothing wrong with it although it is not my cup of tea.

Having people giving you guilt trips of the style 'you have CH because you dont have enough faith' or 'you dont get cured because you lack in faith' is uncalled for. In general people offering you healing tips (like: you are not eating enough vegetables) while you are busy banging your head on the wall, is uncalled for. However it is good to remember that most of these people mean well.

Anyhows, being an atheist, the closest thing I had to a metaphysical experience is the moment the imigran starts to work  Grin Oh, the elation!

Long story short (for me), the is only one God (GlaxoSmithKline) and Sumatriptan is His Prophet.  Grin

I think God has a weird sense of humor. I present for your meditation today the platypus. A mammal that lays eggs. Erm, uh, does God also smoke hash? ROFLMAO!!! Sorry just had to get that in here. I think its the tumor. I hope its the tumor. I would hate to think I am always this twisted. Sophia Grin
