Melatonin and Cluster H/A
Sep 14th, 2009 at 8:17am

It's been a while since I last posted here and have a question about Melatonin.  My headaches usually arrive in December - why they are starting in September is a mystery to me. I recently found out I have Hyperthyrodism which have produced 'regular' headaches daily and nightly which are pretty much controlled with ES Excedrin. But now the cluster h/a's are back.  My doctor is famous for dispensing 'pills' and doesn't fully understand the cluster headache issues. (I am almost surely going to switch primary doctors).  After 4 nights of headaches with no relief I decided last night to swallow 12 mgs of Melatonin pills.  I slept the entire night but did have a 'regular' headache upon arising this morning.  I rarely have CH's during the day but last week I went to the beach, forgot my hat, and almost immediately my left nostril started running and sure enough a headache started - cluster style - with no relief in sight other than to wait it out.  Since I haven't been here in a while I was wondering if any medical breakthrough's have been made on this condition.
