Hello Everyone
Oct 9th, 2009 at 11:52pm

Hello everyone:
My name is Mark Wylie 48yrs old. I have been diagnosed with CH since
1992. I pretty much stay on a 2 year cycle which has just started again. Went to Doc Wednesday to get started with the fight to get Imitrex out of the Ins co. again, I have quite a bit left from 2007 but when things get worse I will  need more. I have been splitting up the shots into thirds for years which saves allot. I also started Prednisone and Verapamil as usual. Not looking forward to fighting the BEAST
again but over the years I have discovered that in time this will pass eventually. So far it's not been to bad 3 or 4 a week and only a couple reaching 7 or 8 respectively on Kip scale 2am this morning was the 8. finally got to bed after my wife left for work at 5am. I have tried O2 with mild results and allot of other stuff with poor results.
I am marred with 5 children, 2 at home.
Anyway I have never posted in my life and thought this would be a good time to start.

Welcome Mark....

Sorry you had reason to seek us out, but glad you found us.

Please....look around....read...ask questions.

I recommend the O2 info located on the left hand side of your screen.  Wink

Hey there Wile E.,

Sounds like you're well familiar with the usual cluster meds and the usual having to fight the ins.co. for them. I bet you'll make some good contributions in your posts here.

I suppose you've looked into the non rebreather, high LPM type O2 usage that has gained popularity around here for it's better than mild results for most people?

Looking forward to hearing more from you.  Smiley

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

Welcome to the board! The kids...that was one of the toughest parts of the early years as a CH'er, trying to be a good daddy while fighting these damned things. My heart goes out to you.

Do take some time and read the oxygen info link on the left. Many have found a dramatic increase in the effectiveness of the 02 by changing HOW they used it. The critical points: A NON re breather mask, high flow rate of at least 15 LPM and start at the first hint of an attack. Nasal canulas and re breather masks are next to worthless. Has all but eliminated my need for that damned trex. I've always hated the "snakes under my skin" feel of trex and am convinced it extends cycles.

Hoping you catch a short go this cycle and can get back to being a daddy.
