The CH cure?
Oct 11th, 2009 at 5:55pm

Hi
I want to hear your opinion and experiences about D-vitamin subliment.
Are there some CH patient who have been cured by taking D-vitamin?
How many of you have tried or takes a dose in the range of 100-150 ug daily to get a blood level between 50-80 ng/ml (125-200 nmol/L?

Be extremely careful using the "C" word.

It pushes buttons.

Niels, forgive us for our attitude. I am happy something has helped you. Go for it.

Many things do help us in different ways, and some seem quite odd, like kudzu, a rampant weed in parts of the US.

I think of it as a remission, and I hope it last a lifetime for you.

They're having a little fun at your expense...but it's all in fun! Wink

We don't use the word CURE here as it's terribly misleading. I have substantially reduced the frequency and intensity of my cycles by taking a daily combo of Magnesium, Vitamin D, Calcium, and Vitamin B-2. I'm never entirely sure how much it helps, or what specific part of it does the most good, as the beast is known to morph so often. As long as it seems to help me...I ain't messing with it!

If you have found something that works, for heavens sake stick with it. Just understand if you truly have CH, you can't cure it. You can mask it's symptoms and prolong remission periods. Some get lucky and just outgrow it. People like you have turned us on to numerous alternative treatments which have proved succesful for many sufferes. Do post of your continued epxerience.........you might have stumbled onto something.

Thanks for the comments, especially the funny ones but also the serious ones.  Wink

The last 4 months I have spend almost all my time reading/researching about Vitamin-D and found some very interesting links between CH and vitamin-D deficiency. Today we don’t know the cause of CH, but we know that CH suffers have lower levels of serotonin, melatonin, testosterone and magnesium during CH periods.  I am absolutely convinced that vitamin-D deficiency is the main cause of CH because:

1.      Vitamin-D regulates the serotonin level. Low vitamin-D = low level of serotonin = low level of melatonin.
2.      Vitamin-D regulates the hormone testosterone.
3.      CH is more common in northern latitude.
4.      Vitamin-D lowers the blood pressure.
5.      Vitamin-D increases the magnesium level.
6.       Finally my own experiences. 8 months without CH. The first for me in 17 years.

Vitamin-D deficiency is one of the major causes of almost every known disease ex. cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, etc.

Vitamin-D researchers have concluded that the optimal level of Vitamin-D has to be in the range of 50-80 ng/ml. It’s the same level as the primates living in the free sunny nature and the level humans had in the past.

Niels

No questioning you've done your homework on this. Check out the thread in this same area, about 10 threads down, "Why don't we pay attention to this?" another theory about a deficiency that's apparently helping a lot of people with CH. I'm one of those who is convinced CH is probably about 20 or more closely related problems. That'd explain why meds that work so well for some, seem worthless for others. just Joe's theory! Wink

That is interesting info Niels, I will read about it myself too a bit as I want to try all possible treatments, and will do a blood-work on vit D levels and report back in week or so.

Hello everybody (again) from Spain

What about the CH sufferers that don't have vitamin-D deficiency? if there is (CH) people with right levels, the D vitamin will not help them. This is the same for B-complex, magnesium ,etc..

Are we all in right levels of D vitamin? can someone say with facts he/she has right levels? Sure, I can't, but i will look for this information.

Thank you very much for your share, I take good note of.

Best regards.

WHATEVER works for you....that's great. For other reasons, I take large amounts of D3 (the active form)...it seems to help those conditions. As for ch...no dice...

In Denmark 5% of the population have a vitamin-D level between 50-80 ng/ml late summer and only 2 % in the late winter period. I will be very surprised if there are any CH suffers in this part of the Danish population.

Hi Jon

How much D3 vitamin do you take and have you got a blood test? I'm taking 140 ug (5600 IU) as a daily dose year round

Howdy,

1000-2000 iu/dy (depending on remembering dosing schedule....prefer divided doses of most meds/supplements as it is a personal belief that the body can only absorb so much at a time).

Best,

Jon
