Before & After Symptoms
Oct 20th, 2009 at 10:51am

Had a hit last evening round about Kip 6-7 just before I had to go out to a meeting.  Immediately hit the 02 and took an Imitrex nasal spray.  Seems to have done the trick to a large degree but have been shadowing like mad since.

I was editing my log when I noticed again a pattern that has become more obvious to me.  I wondered if anyone else has observed similiar experiences?

I've been in a cluster now since August 4th. I seem to be a bit odd in that I go 3 to 4 days of lower intensity (K3-4) then 2 to 3 days of higher intensity hits (K6-7).  I had been hoping and praying that I was on the downside as it has been over a week and a bit since a big hit but alas...

What I noticed again in my log was that 1-2 days before a big hit, I get a massive increase in what I call the "buzzing and burning".  My left cheek, ear and forehead get incredibly hot and tingly but the pain is realy fairly minor.

The hits come (2 or 3 a day maybe) and while I only occassionally have attacks at night, my sleep is majorly disrupted.   When the big hits stop, the buzzing and burning also reduce to a significant degree but I am totally wiped out for a day or two.  I describe it as feeling hungover.

That sound at all familiar to folks?

Yep...through the years as my headaches get more intense, the after effects are more intense.  I sure know what you are talking about.  In some other threads on here, we have discussed this.  I have the ear/eye/jaw/neck/teeth pain as well as a foggy brain (I call it clusterbrain) during my cycle even when I'm not having a headache.  The worse my cycle is, the worse those effects are and the longer it takes to get over it after my cycle is over.  My sister used to have the same thing until she started using Imitrex injections which stops her from ever having a headache more than 5-10 minutes every time.  Her theory is that if you don't let the headache get bad, you don't get the damage from it that causes all the other stuff.  But it could be the Imitrex INJECTIONS, too.

Hope this helps,
Joni

Read the topic on the board...After Effects of a Cluster.  I had so much weirdness after a CH that it almost bothered me more than CH pain, mainly because the CH pain lasted 40 - 45 minutes, but the weird stuff continued day after day.  Like I said, check out the TOPIC..AFter Effects of a cluster...alot of mirror images.
