Lump on roof of mouth?
Nov 12th, 2009 at 10:51am

Since the beginning of this cycle I have developed a very sore lump on the roof of my mouth.  It's not like a cold sore but more like a knot that feels very tender.

I'm not sure if it is related to CH or not.  Any thoughts?

PF wishes,

Jeannie

ETA:  I know one can have a lump on the back of the neck that is related to CH.  Can they develop in other areas?

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

How long have you actually had it? If it's more than a week or so I would definitely see a doctor or even a dentist about it.
Let us know how you get on please!!

What Helen said!  If it doesn't clear up soon get it checked out.

It probably isn't anything serious, but it's better to know early than late.

Jeannie, wondering where abouts do you feel this knot? Is it on the side you get hit? How far back on the roof of your mouth do you feel this? Do you feel it around the area where your molars end?

Very curious, Iddy

The lump is on the roof of my mouth in the very middle.   It is tender to the touch.  I also have a lump on the back of my neck that becomes very sore while in cycle.  I apply ice to it when I am getting hit and it shortens the duration of the hit.  I think that I'll try putting a piece of ice in my mouth during my next hit and see what happens.

Jeanie, I get several knots in my neck that are sore during my cycle.  Could you have eaten something like potato chips that stabbed the roof of your mouth and you have forgotten about it?  I have done that before.

Hmmm. That's a new one for me. I sometimes feel like I have a knot in my neck, but no lumps. Be sure to have that checked out!

Yes, during a hit, I would get, not a lump, but a huge painful swelling of the blood vessel going across the roof of my mouth.  The swelling occurred only on the side of my CH, never the other side of my mouth.

During a hit, this would become so huge and so painful that I couldn't decide which hurt more, the pain in my eye and temple, or the pain in my mouth.  I used ice packs on my head/eye, and had ice water always at hand.  Take a mouthful of water, with a cube, and just hold it in your mouth as long as you can before swallowing.  It doesn't make the pain go away, but it helps a little.

Difference here though, once that hit was over, the lump disappeared until the next hit.  If yours is still there, get it checked.

Had a lump on the roof of my mouth. It moved to mid back CH side..then upper forehead CH side and now has hunkered in on my neck. Seems to be the source of the pain no matter where it springs up. The rood of the mouth was the worse. I have my own opinions on the lumps. I believe there are nerve bundles in these areas that are being overstimulated by neuro transmitters or Nitric Acid. In my case the lump produces so much nitric acid it actually burns the skin on the surface. The Dr.s had never seen anything like it and didnt know what kind of cream to prescibe to treat it. Durring a cluster mine swell and get inflamed and the muscles near and around the nerve clusters tighten to rocks. When my cycle ends the lumps go away. I know Im nearing the end of my cycle when the lump begins to scab up.
