Hola New Here
Nov 21st, 2009 at 6:37am

Glad to have found this site, only wish I didn't need it. I'm on my 2nd? cycle in 2 years. Thought i was through this one but woke up at 4:30am and got a small boomer going. My q's? are...Do CH's vary in their intensity during a cycle? How long does a cycle normally last? What is this "aura" talk I keep seeing?
Thanks

Variation in pain intensity, location, and duration of a cycle are all part of CH. Your best coping is from working to get a good treatment program which works for you, use it with care, and don't spend alot of time lookng into the future trying to predict what might happen.

The aura business is uncommon with CH; a more common experience in migraine. Sort of a light and pattern show with, as far as I understand it, of no clinical significance. Perhaps you are referring to "shadows", which are common to CH. They are a highly personal set of sensations ranging from dull pain, vague tightness, sense of unease, etc. which may last for a few days after a full-blown CH attack. Many folks regard it as analogous to muscle strain after too much expercise! A bit of  OTC pain med may be worth a try.

Hi Cupper, welcome. Sorry that you needed to find us.
The "Beast" although common to us all manifestes itself in a individual way. Yes the hits can be different in intensity and cycles are different for us all. Some can know to the day they are going to be in cycle, others not. There are also the cronic sufferers who endure this on a daily basis.
Check the "Kip" scale on the left. It will give an idea as to the different intensities.
Check back in and let us know what you do to battle the Beast. Do you have a headache specialist? The Meds you take. Do you use oxygen to abort? Others will join in and help you in whatever you need.

All the best

Iddy
