I OD'd on Melatonin last night.  Cheesy

I live on small island in SE Alaska, we have one tiny drug store.  They are out of the 3mg tablets of Melatonin, so I purchase the 1mg liquid droplets.  My only choice.  Ok.  At home, I take the last two tablets I have, and go to sink and fill my water glass a 1/4 and I read the directions. "Take four droppers" hmmmm.
I can't remember the last time I used "droppers" for medicine.  Maybe when I was 5.  I don't have kids, and the only droppers I use are for my dog's flea prevention.
Well, my "droppers" are the whole in-squeeze and squeeze-out, ok there's one.  And again.
Yup, I did 4. And "gulp".
I lay there for a moment, and start thinking that there couldn't be 60mg of those "droppers" in that little bot.....oh my, oh no, no I didn't.... Shocked
I did.   Sad Let's say each "dropper" was about 12 mg plus easily.
My stomach started acting a bit unsettled for a moment, and I couldn't get to sleep, I think I got the reverse effect for about a half an hour (or I thought I was gonna die of Melatonin OD).  But, shortly, it was lights out untill 7:30am sharp.  Whoa, I don't even remember sleeping.

I really had a serious "idiot" moment, WOW!

I'll just blame it on the CH's, they made me do it!  Roll Eyes

I'm feeling a bit euphoric.  Tingles in feet.  Drinking a strong coffee now.

When you don't feel well, are busy, and the dose changes, then it can happen.

Or the old Moyle's rule.... measure thrice, check twice, cut once!

You've overstayed your welcome since the day we met but it doesn't seem to matter to you.  No medications are your master, nothing makes you fret, it's a helpless feeling having nothing I can do

I wouldn't get too concerned about Melatonin OD.  From some of the research I've read - even massive quantities didn't result in test animals showing symptoms of Toxicity.

Obviously it not something to make a habbit of.

Would the owner of the propane torch, egg beater, pipe expander and vise grips please claim these items. They're lodged in my head and I need the space.

Glad your ok. Two years ago I ramped up from "0" to 480mg Verapamil within a 8 hour period, wrong!
Phoned my neuro and he told to get to the ER right away, my blood pressure dropped right off and was passing out.
I know now exactly how to take Verapamil. That must have been scary for you!

Thanks for the concern and the good advice (brew & fram).  I will be more careful on my dosage, and refer to my friends here without regard.
I wasn't too worried about an ER trip, I just didn't know how my body would react to such a high dosage.  Getting sick, either end, jitters or lack there of.  Made me worried...but the worries didn't last.  I was very very very very very fast asleep before too long.
Any over dosage can be scary and or harmful, just glad it was only Melatonin.
