Welcome.

My experiences with Neurontin may be different than others, but it did nothing at all for me. I was desperate for some relief, so I tried as high as 4,000+ mg per day ramped up slowly over three months.

I was trying a mixture of meds at the time and thought that it was working, but when I stopped - it had zero impact - good or bad.

Please keep in mind that we all respond in different ways to the wide variety of medications out there!

Hi Jameson,
I'm in the UK and have about 6 years experience of Neurontin.  The actual generic name that you will be supplied is usually Gabapentin, not the more expensive trade named version.  I started on 300mg per day and slowly over a period of about a month went to 1800mg per day.
For me there were only one or two side effects.  1/ I found as the dose went higher (in my case I ended up on 4000mg per day (no that is not a typing error!) my speech was very 'stammery' and not easy to understand and 2/ The other one was some loss of libido at the very high doses.
Now I'm back to 2400mg per day.  I did go lower but the chronic got even more painful, so in my case it does seem as if Gabapentin does have some beneficial effect.
It's a well tried drug and so I can only suggest giving it a go.  Best of luck and try everything they offer you.

It's been pretty good for me. With the episode I think I've just finished, It probably prevented about half of my hits, which for me has been about as good as a preventative gets. I ramped up to 2400 mg a day, started at 900 mg.

The initial side effect I experienced was some wooziness, not too severe, and it completely went away after a while.

You're using an abortive such as O2 and/or imigran to quash hits I hope?

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.
