A "personal" question
Dec 4th, 2009 at 3:53pm

You all here seem to be pretty open so I'm just gonna go for it. Last weekend, my husband and I had a little romp in the sack after being pf for a few days. It's the least I can do to try to thank him for all of his support right? I gotta tell ya that hours later after going to bed (to sleep) the beast came with a fury! It is still to this day the worst attack that Iv'e experienced this cycle. Is this coincidence? Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? I read that sex releases as much dopamine in your system as one alcoholic drink which many including myself have sensitivity to during a cycle. So I don't know if I'm just crazy or if it really does alter something in your system that the beast reacts to. Help please.

I think that if it was going to cause a hit it would have done so much earlier in the evening! Not hours later.

Hope it helps!

Considering that there is a link between hormone levels and CH, it's possible. Guess it makes sense. Although it is true that if there was that much a lapse in between, it probably wasn't sex that didn't. However, as much fear I have of their reoccurance, I avoid anything that I think might have the slightest connection with me getting another headache. I live in paranoia.

I agree with Helen.  I think the beast hit ya just cause he can.  How far along are you in the cycle?  I think the peak time 2-3 weeks in.  Or you could be coming down the other side and there can be some nasty ones in between PF days.  Everyone is different.
I didn't, myself, experience any abnormal hits during or post-sex.  But then I wasn't keeping track.

Thanks for being open!  Wink

Maybe this is a stretch but the beast hits me hardest when he comes while I am asleep.  Maybe you were more relaxed and deeper asleep when he hit?

Anyway, I would suggest a 3 week trial where you have sex between 1-5 times daily.  Keep details on your headaches and figure it out form there.  Your husband can send a check to me whenever he gets a chance!!!

Sorry, but serious answers arent my thing today, been a long week!

Stress is the best way to keep the attacks down for me. The more stressed I am, the less I get hit.

But, any relaxation (including eating or sleeping) and I get paid back big time.  Bob G used to say something like:  "Never eat, never sleep, never relax..... ever"

That quote fits my CH's.

I haven't had an attack after sex in quite some time. However, during the first cycle that I can remember, I had attacks immediately after sex.

I can't speak from experience, but my guess is that the relaxation after the fact is what brought it on harder than normal.  I have an idea you were going to be hit anyway, but the relaxed mood you were in made it more pronounced.  I'm with Marc and Bob on this one.  I try never to relax very deeply.

What great insight you guys have! I agree that relaxation is the enemy during a cycle so I probably did get to relaxed afterwards. Anything that causes soothing thoughts or state of mind is just asking for it seems like. Never thought of that. Thanks. To Angela, this cycle started the first week of November, Friday the 6th to be exact. So almost exactly a month into this cycle. Just lots of questions this time around. All the other cycles in the past four years since it started for me were just fitting, meaning clustered. Now that this cycle is pf for days then a nasty night to remind me im not out of the woods is disorienting. Admitedly, thats what I get for believing in a pattern. Never a safe thing to do with these buggers. Thanks again guys for helping me.

Marc, Does this mean you pratice UN- Safe Sex? That would stress me  Grin

So far my wife likes sex, but then she doesn't have CH. As it goes with me I have never thought about a Ch when I was between the sheets.. I get hit later sometimes.. after the beast wakes me up...

Coming from a man's point of view i agree you should take hubby to for a romp often  Grin

RL, 'pattern' just caught my eye.. Over the years I find the pattern changes.. I move my life around what ever that is, and then the pattern changes again, and i move around that.

I git 2 hours sleep last night because the pattern is the beast comes at 2AM, and so I stayed up and went to bed then. It had to wait till 4 AM to get me, and by then it was too late for it's second attack.

I did o2 and aborted, then hung around outside a while in the north wind. This time the pattern has been 2 days pf and 1 day hell at night.

Last Spring it was 6:30 pm sharp, and another hit a an hour and a half later.

Moving my hours to cheat the beast seems to help. I get pretty tired, but I don't take such a bad beating for it.

When I first came here, I was at whitts end.. That was around 2001 I guess. I was taking more beating, than I could stand.

It don't work like that any more, and about all I use is 02, and change my habits.

For me, the sex helps more often than not. The biggest problem was(and is)always timing. Too high on the kip scale and I didn't want anything but to be alone(and I'm always ready Grin )

/side note...I went to bed with a slight shadow 2 nights ago dreading sleep and woke up totally refreshed from a deep 'coma'. Complete with drool on the pillow and all!  Wink But then I got a hit last night after dinner.  Angry
I hate the randomness.

what if it was its time for the beast to come and knock the door anyway??

i mean if i remember well the last time i did what you did under the sheets when was Romberto Baggio lost the penalty against Brazil in world cup 1994.He can't still come over the fact that he aimed a seagle passing by and i stopped messing with the seeds cause i respect him.But my point is that the beast doesn't watch football and still comes anyway.

I actually have the same problem, but it's not very often. Sometimes after more uhm intense intercourse, the beast attacks, not a few hours later but straight after the finish. Which kinda ruins the ending Smiley

Just great, Marc. Thanks for asking.

While we're on the subject of this string I would like to make a motion that everyone here get laid tonight  and report back first thing tomorrow morning.

Go!

of all the conversations to read on this forum this is the one I chose to read at work. Fantastic topic. When I was married, we ever tried to abort a headache with sex. No go. Just made it worse.

Several times I've had a hit start in the middle of the act. Embarassing and painful. Usually at peak cycle.
