There is no "food to avoid at all costs". Triggers, if there are any at all, seem to be very individual.

Several years ago this was a big topic here, reflecting the influence of the migraine crowd  where the issue has more relevance.

We have very high agreement on avoiding alcohol when in an active period; somewhat lesser agreement on avoiding various solvents (in cleaners, paint, etc.). The issue of food is very unclear and highly individual as is heat (as in body temp with exercise, etc.)

An interesting aside from Europe: red wine is a trigger; white wine not; distilled spirits seriously bad. But you will have to learn from your body.....

I avoid alcohol at all costs while in cycle.  I'm pretty sure MSG affects my CH as well.  I'm not sure if it is a trigger, I get hit whether I consume it or not.  I DO think that it intensifies the hits though.

It's hard for me to tell what triggers my CH.  When you are getting very often, it's hard to tell if it was triggered or if it is just that you are getting hit. I sometimes think I just get hit, no matter what I foods I avoid.

#1 Avoid stress
#2 Avoid alcohol
If you combine the 2, you will now need to relax even more for the CH to dissipate.

alcohol, I realize now that 35 years ago my serious headaches started, very different than now/ just once a day bad in the morning. but even then no cycles/ any time I would drink even a half a beer I'd have a 50/50 chance of getting a bad headache/ then after the headache was gone I could drink away.
sorry for the many and long posts/ I'm up at 3:16 am/not a wink of sleep for 3 nites in a row (just started second pred taper). I was a mess at work today. just fought off a hit that snuck through/ I guess a kip4/ iced peas/ 15 min hot shower.2 min on the peas again, its gone so back to white Christmas on AMC,

When you go into cycle again keep a detailed diary of your attacks.  In the details keep record of all things that might or might not have contributed.  NOTE: One time does not show a trend!  Unless you note one particular food item results in an attack promptly after you eat it each time for a number of times eat it and enjoy.  If you note a hit within a very short time EVERY time you partake for a number of times leave it alone until your cycle ends.

Alcohol is generally known as a trigger for episodics in cycle.  Leave it alone while in cycle and drink responsibly when out.

Mostly it is Migrainers who have issue with foods rather than Clusterheads.  There are a couple of things that trigger me, but I'll not mention them as each of us react differently.
