Pre-Episode Remidies (Read 1515 times)

Clusterhead CH.com Newbie Offline I Love CH.com! Posts: 6 Portland, OR Gender:	Pre-Episode Remidies Dec 9^th, 2009 at 12:49am I was wondering if there were any suggestion of what I might be able to take for a soon to arrive episode. I have oxygen, zomig, and morphine sulf, but nothing that I take daily to keep it under control. Im on a tight budget as it is. Thanks.

The only down side is it takes a couple of blood tests when you first go on it to establish a safe level. After 2 weeks it'll block up to 70% of my attacks. Joe

The drugs you see called "preventives" serve this very purpose. You take them daily during an active cycle and they reduce/prevent attacks.

Yes I paid only $14/month for my lithium. It cut the number of ch in half from 8/day to 4/day. Much more manigable. Maybe predisone to break the cycle once it has started and is really making you crazy and you want a break from it. Verapamil is another great preventative also. Many drink energy drinks real fast to abort a ch. Some take melatonin at bedtime to avoid night time attacks or reduce them to get better sleep. Hope these suggestions help give you somthing to think about.

It's not for all though. Heck, one packet of 100 seeds is cheaper than my prescription co-pay.

I actually read somewhere can't remember where, that fairly little research has been done on lithium on account of it being cheap and not patentable. That's gotta be one of the drawbacks with capitalism.

You can get it through Wal Mart on their $4.00 meds program. Prednisone is another one that can be bought through the Wal Mart prescription program. Both of these are cheaper than morphine sulfate. Also, keep in mind, many narcotics cause rebound headaches. 'darlin
