Dec 11th, 2009 at 7:37pm

I was fooling around on googles when I stepped onto this, I did not know you could remove hypothalamus O.o

I thought human could become more psychic imparied if it was, though on the other hand it is a gland.

One little pesky side effect: Forget ever experiencing pleasure or pain again.

I have to admit - I cracked up laughing at this, especially when I read the link. Thats some teenage kid asking the question, it isn't possible!

To be serious for a minute about it, the hypothalamus is located somewhere right about bang in the middle of your brain. Even if they could get to it without slicing through every other function you may want again you need your hypothalamus for quite a lot of stuff! It may be "only a gland" but it's a pretty important one!

Here you go

I thought this kinda curious at first as well. Thought I'd look into it.
Like Marc says I dont think you can live without the thing but apparently they can and have gotten to and do perform surgeries at the hypothalamus.
Perhaps this is what the questioner may have been refering to.
