Has anyone tryed Accupunture?
Dec 15th, 2009 at 6:53am

I have been a cronic cluster head, for over 3 years. I had 1-2 attacks every day. I started getting acupuncture, and have been free from any attack. I had to fly from the Philippines, where I live now back to the States for 3 months, and didn't receive treatment for that time, 2 months later they started again, after only 2 treatments they were gone again, and have been ever since. It took 2 treatments  a week for 6 weeks before they stopped the first  time.I only go in once a week now,and it only takes about an hour. Now I can eat and drink anything that were my triggers. Now my O2 tank has dust on it and my DHE injections, along with the rest of my meds are ready to expire.  Has anyone tried this? it did work for me. Cheesy
No more drugs and back to a normal life. Cheesy

Hi,  Welcome here.... I guess. It to me, always feels strange to welcome anyone to this mess.

I was wondering if you had seasonal hits, since I know nothing about seasons where you live.

I am curious about acupuncture for CH and damaged back problems, but don't know where to get this treatment, and or how I would go about it. I live in rural New Hampshire USA. That's near Maine. I am saying so because when I have been west of New York state no one seems to have heard of NH.

Once in Nebraska I was taken for a man from Britain..  Grin

Hi Scott,

I'm very happy to hear you've found some PF time.  Congratulations!!! I'm doing the happy dance for you.

Having said that, this would be the first time I've ever read that Acupunture had helped CH.  I'd caution you against linking your CH remission to this treatment method.  It could be that you were just due for a break.

Either way, like I said, I couldn't be happier for you.  I hope the beast has permenantly lost your address.

Where there is life, there is hope.
Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

Yes I've tried acupuncture and was lucky to get the best acupuncturist in London.  Some of the people who describe themselves as acupuncurists are barely qualified and can do more harm than good. You have to be very careful. Best thing is to find one who's also qualified as a regular allopathic GP but probably no longer practices as one.
For me the acupuncture was like a miracle. One little needle in my right foot, one in my temple, one somewhere around my liver.  Total treatment time: about 3 minutes. Result: cluster interruptus.  Cycle done and dusted, no more headaches.   This worked for 20 years.   Then suddenly it didn't work any more and I got horrendous rebound headaches.  *sigh*  And then I moved to Australia where I haven't found a competent acupuncturist, so back to drugs unfortunately.
But it's so effective - with the right practitioner - it's definitely worth a try.  Just be very thorough in your research about the practitioner.  As I said, many of them are rubbish and hazardous to your health.

Wow. That's two "first posters" singing the praises of acupuncture within the last 24 hours.

Just an observation. I'll let others draw their own conclusions.

Hi, I went through therapy for almost 8 months, Like I said, I would have thought it could have been the end of a 3 year Chronic, daily cycle, but when I stopped for 2 months, they came back, when I started therapy again,a month later,, they stopped. I don't know how or why, but I'm singing about it. All I can say is it seems to be working for me, and it is much cheaper and better for you than all the drugs I was taking. And I can enjoy a beer again !!!! without being on the O2 before I finish it. Living in the Philippines, the cost of an hour long session, is only $6. US. and he is a licenced Dr. and half Filipino, and half Chinese. He went to med school in the US, and Acupuncture in China. and they been doing it there for almost 2,000 years. I told my nuro about it and he told me he isn't supposed to suggest anything like that cuz they don't know how it works, so he just pushes more drugs, and let me live in hell, for 3 years. It is so nice to be able to walk out the door without my Imitrex shot in my pocket. I cant see how it can hurt you, and anything is worth a try to stop the pain. For my arthritis pain, it is still there, but about half of what it was.
