White Christmas in Big "D"!!!
Dec 24th, 2009 at 3:16pm

Fairly heavy snow with 20-25 mph winds in the metroplex right now with forecast for an accumulation of 2-3 inches by this evening!!  Been here over 40 years and this is a really rare event!!

Wishing everyone a PF and Merry Christmas!!

2-3 inches.

Fairly heavy.

Hmmmm.....

Southerners do a LOT of things very, very well. But dealing with snow is not one of them.

I was in Memphis once about 20 years ago when they had one inch of snow. I-240 was literally LITTERED with accidents. I'd never seen anything like it.

Maybe it's all the bias ply tires.

I'm glad Mike got done with Toys for Tots and got home!  He grew up with the stuff up here, but as I learned living in SC, you might be able to frive in it, but you can't dodge them all!

Yep and then Denny sent it down to the farm. Yesterday morning when I got up it was 59 degrees and last night when I went to bed it was snowing... But this IS Texas... LOL!

Always heard if you don't like Texas weather just wait five minutes...

I guess Memphis has changed a lot since I left many many years ago (been gone over 30 years).  Snow wasn't that unusual of a phenomenon and most of us could drive in it without any problem.

Now, moving down here is another story altogether.  Snow/ice freaks people out.

20 yrs ago, we were still living in Southern CA. We got 6" in a freak snowstorm. As Gil "sucked it up" in order to get to work, he headed  down the hill to the freeway, he encountered our neighbors..........ALL our neighbors....... seems NOONE had any problem getting DOWN the hill, but stopping there proved a challenge!
Everyone managed to take out part of SOMEONE's car, cept Gil.......4WD.....he shuttled the gang back to our lil neighborhood and we all called work and simply spent the day at home, enjoying the phenomenon!

Personally, I don't mind driving in snow.......it's when it freezes to a slick hard surface, then more snow covers it..NOTHING can bite into that ice!

Stay safe and  enjoy!

I have discovered that no one knows how to drive in the snow in the Asheville area of NC either....getting caught in the storm on the 18th that dropped anywhere from 15-24" of snow depending on where you were in the mountains, and not a single person I experienced knew a damn thing about how to get unstuck or avoid getting stuck in the first place.

I can only imagine what folks in Dallas would think of the white stuff while driving....

Glad I wasn't on the roads there...someone mighta got hurt LOL
