The 2 cycles I use trex I didn't seem to suffer rebounds, although both times I was also using lithium as a prevent so maybe that helped???

I have never had a rebound from Trex shots or tabs.
The tabs I used years ago usually when I knew the time a CH was coming.  I'd pop it an hour before and it seemed to work.  The shots I use the tip on your left so i'm not "intaking" so much sumatriptan.  I only need 2mg worth of shot to abort my CH.  It appears the more  you intake, the more of a chance you have of rebounds.  With O2 in my arsenal, hopefully i'll need little to none Trex.  Besides, triptans give my seeds road blocks.

Rivea Corymbosa seeds were my KO punch, now D3 is the front runner!

Rebound headaches. "Rebound Headaches--A Review", Au. John S. Warner, M.D., in HEADACHE QUARTERLY, 10:3(1999). (There is some confusion on the board about the meaning of "rebound". There appears to be an emerging consensus in the medical literature to define "rebound" as a headache which is caused by the overuse of any medication used to abort a headache or relieve pain. "Recurrence" [of a headache] is being used to refer to the redevelopment of an attack when its "normal" duration is longer than the useful life of the medication which has been taken. That is, the medication effectiveness is reducing before the headache has come to an end; the pain redevelops.)
=================================================================
Sumatriptan has a hard initial punch and relatively short effective life--a combination which works well for most Cluster attacks. However, some people, whose Clusters have a longer life, find that the med is wearing down even as the pain continues. One can understand how this sequence comes into play: Attack, Imitrex injection, pain continues, it's a rebound cluster which has developed from the Imitrex.

This is one of the reasons that several other triptans were developed having less initial punch but longer effective life. While aimed at the migraine crowd, at first, a number of cluster users have found this characteristic of value to them.

I also use the Q-Tip trick when I am forced to use trex, but I really try to avoid it because to me I get the re-bound.

2mg's works for me, but the price to do so is high.

I use the injections for night hits.  On the average, my hits last between 2-3 hours.  I take the full dose and I have never had a rebound.  There have been periods where I would use 5-6 shots a week!  I use O2 for day hits.  I use Verapamil as my prevent and it usually works.  The shots are for those breakthroughs...

Thanks Bob Johnson for clarifying the difference between a rebound and a recurrence.

I can't do imitrex without getting rebounds, used to do imitrex alot with great results but now only if I feel like I'm going to die because I know I'll get a rebound. I can do Zomig without rebounds so that's a plus, best of luck to ya.
