Blast from the past
Jan 12th, 2010 at 3:37am

Hey gang. Looong time no see. Life has gotten very interesting (read: busy) over the last few years... family health issues, change of jobs, etc. Good to see a lot of the old timers still around! Just checking in to see what's news and to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!

I occurred to me this month that this will be 25 years since my clusters were disgnosed. My remission periods seem to be getting longer, thank God, nearly 3 years and counting now, though I can't tell right now if I'm just getting sinus crap or shadows. I'm holding out for sinus crap, myself.

Big hugs all around...

Joe

Hi Joe!

Glad to see you, and glad you haven't needed us!  Missed you though.  Has it really been three years?  I must be getting old.  They say life is like a roll of toilet paper.  The closer to the end the faster it goes!

Well Hello Joe!  Very long time no read!  Damn though, didn't think it had been 3 years....ooof....that time flying thing is no fun;

Very happy to know you've enjoyed a remission of such length, and may it long continue...like FOREVER!

Don't be a stranger, drop in and keep us posted on life and events in your neck of the woods Smiley

For better or worse, once you are inducted into this family, it pretty much takes a deity to remove ya Wink

Aw, thanks everyone! It's great to see so many people I loved reading about here. I don't even know where to begin with the stuff that's happened to me lately... I went from working for Starbucks to working for Comcast. I really need to get out of companies people love to hate! Though I do have a great job offer coming up, which will require a move to Fort Worth, Texas. Likely will be moving in the spring or summer.

I'd be moving earlier, but we're knee deep in taking care of Dave's mother, whose health has been failing pretty quickly since November. She had her first stroke about 10 years ago, and had been living alone since she lost her husband back at Thanksgiving 2007. We begged her to get a LifeAlert bracelet, but she wouldn't hear of it. We called her nearly every day since then to check on her, and of course the one day we didn't call is the day she took a fall. Broke her pelvis in 4 places, and was on her dining room floor for about 26 hours before we could get a neighbor over to see why she wasn't answering the phone. She was in the hospital and then a nursing home for rehab until we brought her to our house on Christmas Eve. She spet all of 3 days living with us, and then began vomiting blood, so back to the hospital she went. Turs out she had a bleeding ulcer which went undetected until her kidneys failed and she couldn't keep anything down. We really thought we were going to lose her, but she's bouncing back.

A few days ago, she began talking about not being able to see the TV in her room, and couldn't tell the difference between Dave and his nephew, so we alerted the doctors on the floor, who immediately ordered a brain scan. The scan revealed that she had another stroke last week. Poor lady just can't win, but she's trying.

I guess crazy times are why I got to thinking about people I've known, which brought me back here. It's good to be back!

Big hugs....

Joe

I'm glad you came back Joe, even if it's only to check in and say hi.   Sounds to me like Daves Mom is a spunky lady.  I'll say a prayer for all of you.
