Helping those in Haiti directly...
Jan 14th, 2010 at 9:51pm

My sister-in-laws mother is on a medical team down in Haiti right now helping the relief effort through her church. If you are able to donate, and are worried about where your money will go, this would help directly. Here is the address, and make sure to make a note saying it's "For the DR team in Haiti":

Highland Community Church
1005 N. 28th Avenue
Wausau, WI 54401

Thank you!!

I was pleased to see my company's announcement on our Intranet page today that they have made a contribution, and are matching employee gifts for the same. I know many other organizations are stepping up as well, gives hope!!

On behalf of friends in Haiti, thanks to all that have given or plan to give.

The outer boundary of what we currently believe is feasible is far short of what we actually must do.

I'm a nurse and have been for 17 years with the majority of my experience being ER and OR experience. I am actually trying to go down there but I am genuinely afraid that the fact I started a cycle last week will prevent me from going if the agency I signed up with calls me.   Angry

I really want to help these people (and yes, I have already donated money, I just feel like I could be doing so much more) but these stupid, stupid CH are going to prevent me from going. That is absolutely frustrating!

Just to update everyone, my sister-in-laws mother is now home safe and sound.  Things are VERY bad down there and they got as far as the border and were ordered to turn back.
