New in Colorado:)
Feb 1st, 2010 at 4:45pm

I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I have been through everything under the sun, the most painful was nerve ablation, where they burn the nerves at the base of your skull.  That only made things worse!  I waited for months to see a specialist at our university hospital up in Denver.  She said that I have Occiptical Nerve migraines with cluster headaches as well. Joy.LOL
I have tried every triptian out there and none of them work for me. I have even tried midrin and cafergot.
I am awaiting the transcribed notes from this doctor to be sent to my doctor so I can get on topamax and lyrica.
I was blessed to already have a prescription for oxygen on file, I just had to get a mask from the ER when I went last. (That is not why I went. LOL)  I am planning on getting a prescription for the masks from my doctor as well.
I have already learned alot for this site and appreciate everyone for being so nice and honest and helpful!
Thanks!

Have you thought about alternative treatments?

What Brew said, plus just checking to be sure - you've tried Imitrex injections, right?

(Soooo many CH folk come on here reporting they've only been prescribed the relatively ineffective pill form of imitrex)

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

What lpm does your regulator go to?  Didn't think you needed a 'script for a mask.  Best mask around is Clustermax (?).

Long day

I hope the mask you have is a NON-REBREATHER the kind with a bag attached. Any other type is nearly useless for CH.

Welcome Ordiefam, I'm right up 24 in Woodland Park.  I have had a lot of success with clusterbusters (I use RC seeds) and would give up my kids before giving up my oxygen (next time you get to the top of the peak, pick up a "got oxygen?" t-shirt  Wink ).
