Taurine Powder?
Feb 15th, 2010 at 7:09pm

Just wonderin if anyone has tried Taurine powder as an abortive?  Was lookin for some Calc Carb the other day on ebay and came across this:

I personally can't stand the taste of energy drinks but my wife lives on them, looked at one of hers and the main ingredient is 1000 mg taurine.  This listing says a dose is 1/4 teaspoon (about 1 gram) and its for a 500 gram bottle at $10.99 with S&H.  Sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than the drinks if its the taurine that is stoppin the hits!

hey, i wish a more informed person would reply to this thread.  a few weeks back i put a similar post up with no responses.

i have been taking the taurine powder off and on....  with no noticeable affects for the positive...  but i do not have a schedule with it.  so, who knows!

i wish i was more of a help, but like you, i only know what i have on the internet.  i do know that the energy drinks have saved me several times.  its not a 100%...  but nothing is when dealing with this.  i would urge you to stock up, and leave them in room-temperature as they are easier to chug/slam/down when they are not as cold.

I Took 1000 mg of Taurine, with a cup of tea.  It did help with the daytime shadow thing....but I was also on Verapamil, and the two did me bad.  My heart rythyms went crazy.   So be careful not to take it along with the Verapamil.
Thats all I know.   Just be carefulllllll          Smiley

I think most CH'ers view taurine as a sort of "turbo boost" for other compounds. In other words, taurine taken with caffeine will kind of super-charge the caffeine.

As is typical, different strokes for different folks...many do the same as you advise...personally I find that the colder the better...I think a complementary effect (like sucking on ice works for some)

Best,

Jon

I had a reply to one of my threads about taurin and verap , apparently taurin is a calcium track blocker the same as verap, and I was warned not to take both at the same time.

hope this helps some

You can take both at the same time as long as you don't overdo it. If you start feeling slight palpitations, you've overdone it. Go easier next time.

And for those who don't like the taste of energy drinks, why don't you try a few that actually taste good? NOS makes three different flavors that not only have the requisite amount of both taurine and caffeine, but they taste good, too. Original (passionfruit), grape, and fruit punch.

Hi DD
Take a look at this link from the old board, its a thread from when I first started trialing Taurine back in early 2006.
It's a fair bit of reading but wont leave you with any delusions of a quick cure.
It's now nearly 4 years since I started & my conclusion on the Taurine is that it is as said before a promoter of the other ingredients; I now only use it to enhance the effects of the Magnesium/Calcium combo I take when the shadows start to intensify.
I suspect from my experience than it needs to be taken over a long period to get long term results.
Cheers
Barry
