sleep
Feb 17th, 2010 at 10:08pm

Can anyone give me the secret of sleep.

Its now 2.48am and I'm still sitting here.
(Awake)
Am i asleep...
Am i...
Nope..
Tried counting sheep, trouble is they won't stop talking to me.
Bah Bah Bah Bah
"where's my gun."
Getting drunk, got nothing to drink apart from tea.
(I did hear if you warmed it over a spoon)
"Where's the lighter"
Bugger the teabag set on fire.
"Oh sod it I'm going to bed."
If them sheep start again there's  trouble.

Oh, I feel your pain and know what you mean. The third bout with the beast starts at 5:am...you've had maybe 3 hours sleep since 10:pm, but each time you go to sleep you *know* you will be waking up in pain in an hour or two. Now you know the sun will be up by the time the headache is over and you'll have less than an hour before you have to get moving for the day. No sense in going to bed again. You pace and groan...could go to sleep on your feet were it not for the pain.

Jeez - It's time for bed. Hope you do better tonight!

Sleep deprivation is a constant battle for me.  Through my Neurologist I obtain prescriptions for Ambien or Zolpidem.  To be clear these sleep aids don’t address any CH symptoms or block night hits.  What they do is make me drowsy enough to quickly drop back off to sleep after and/or between night hits.

The increased sleep has been a blessing and I no longer find myself staying awake waiting for the fun to begin or the next hit to occur.

Would the owner of the propane torch, egg beater, pipe expander and vise grips please claim these items. They're lodged in my head and I need the space.

All you have to do is like me: Get old. At least you'll need less sleep....or at least it seems that way and you can't possibly stay awake in front of cable news.

Good luck.........Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Come Sleep, O Sleep! The Certain Knot of Peace
by Sir Philip Sidney

Come, Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace,
The baiting-place of wit, the balm of woe,
The poor man's wealth, the prisoner's release,
Th' indifferent judge between the high and low;
With shield of proof shield me from out the press
Of those fierce darts Despair at me doth throw!
O make in me those civil wars to cease! -
I will good tribute pay if thou do so.
Take thou of me smooth pillows, sweetest bed,
A chamber deaf of noise and blind of light,
A rosy garland, and a weary head;
And if these things, as being thine in right,
Move not thy heavy grace, thou shalt in me,
Livelier than elsewhere, Stella's image see.

Nice one Potter.

Weary with toil, I haste me to my bed
The dear repose for limbs with travel tired;
But then begins a journey in my head
To work my mind, when body’s work’s expir’d:
For then my thoughts—from far where I abide—
Intend a zealous pilgrimage to thee,
And keep my drooping eyelids open wide,
Looking on darkness which the blind do see:
Save that my soul’s imaginary sight
Presents thy shadow to my sightless view,
Which, like a jewel hung in ghastly night,
Makes black night beauteous and her old face new.
Lo! thus, by day my limbs, by night my mind,
For thee, and for myself no quiet find.

Sleep.  Can you define the word?   I'm not sure I'm familiar with the terminology.

About three weeks ago I came across a partial box of HEB Nighttime Sleeping Aid I had purchased probably a year ago and forgot about. As I had been getting the headaches from hell two or three times a night, I decided I would take this stuff in the chance it might help. The normal dose is two pills. I took three. I slept like a baby. I don't know if it was just a coincidence, or if the lack of CHs was due to the pills or not. I threw the empty box away, so can't tell you the active ingredient. I do recall that it was an amine, probably Diphenhydramine, but can't say for certain. Next time I go to HEB I'll check it out. Was kind of wondering if anyone else has had a positive experience like this using an over the counter sleeping aid.

Isn't that just Benedryl?  It's used for allergies but has drowsiness as a  side effect.

I think it is probably a store brand of Compoze. Like I said, I'll check it next time I'm at HEB.

leading me to think it is probably Diphenhydramine.
Maybe it was just a happy coincidence. Whatever, it was sure welcome.

Still here reading with matchsticks holding the heavy laden lids apart.
Can't fib,
Did have a few hours of not want to wake up moments, and can still recall as most of all on this site the time of anticipation of what may occur...
Are you cooking, what you cooking
