I'm wanting to show this to someone...

I can't put it up on Facebook because the lady who will be getting it as a gift I am friends with.  It's an eagle head on cherry and I just grouted today.  Still needs cleaning up and sealing, but I just had to show somebody!

Very nice, Mel. Is the mosaiced part raised from the surface of the wood, or did you recess it? I can't tell from the photo.

Very nice Mel.  Post again when it's all done so we can see it completely finished.

Thanks Bill.  The tiled part is raised up.  I glued the tiles onto mesh first and then to the wood.

Carol thanks!.   I would do that, but the only thing that will change is it will look cleaner, lol.

This kind of thing gets to me. I have all the art aptitude of fire hydrant and am insanely jealous.

I like it Mel.

Thank you so much Charlie & Beth.  I wasn't sure if it would turn out right as making something like an eagle is intimidating to me.

Anyway, you all are family so I figured you'd put up with me. Cheesy

I am the same way and to be honest the pictures of Mel's work don't do it justice.  I bought 2 pieces for family at Christmas and they were better than the pictures!

Yes, it's not green wood.  This particular one was dried for about a year.
