Verapamil and dizzyness
Feb 20th, 2010 at 7:27pm

Hello,

Per my neurologist, I started out on 80mg per day for a week, then 160mg per week and I am upping to 240 beginning tonight. This past week I have been very nauseous and today very dizzy like I am about to faint. From what i have read here, these are common side effects. Maybe I am sensitive to the drug but it's a little tough to deal with. Will these side effects go away once the drug reaches equilibrium in my system?

Thanks,
Scott

I felt that way when I first started, but I can't tell you what to do other than to call your doctor.

I did not, however my BP is slightly elevated to start, so the verapamil helped bring it down to normal.

There was an adjustment period early on.  Mainly just low energy.  The only real dizziness I experience with with exercise.

To echo the sentiments above, you really do need to discuss this with your Dr.  Low HR is a very common symptom.  It can improve with time as your body adjusts but you really want to make sure that it's nothing to worry about.

Take care and let us know how you make out.
