New here, Hi
Feb 21st, 2010 at 10:57pm

I have been getting CH's for ~4 years now, and the only thing that I have had that worked, was Topomax, and Frova when a "hit" spiked.

Now without insurance I cannot afford the meds and have tired  verapami, which caused the CH's to be worse.

I am now on Propranolol, and they were working ok tis yesterday.

I am using Floricet, to knock them out right now, but I was wondering about this Oxygen deal.

I understand that you can use welding O2, which I have access to at work.  I think I am going to give this a try after reading what I have on this forum.

Well at least there's one thing going your way with that O2 that's available at work.

Glad you're getting interested in the O2. You'd be well advised to treat the info found at the oxygen info link as gospel.

I wonder if you'll have access to a hi flow regulator too? That would be great, since you'll probably need one for maximium effectiveness.

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

The only regulators we have at work are for cutting torches, and I doubt that would work. :p

The trick to making oxygen work is that your lungs have to get 100% oxygen, no outside air, no exhaled air. This can be done by taking a small trash bag, cutting a hole in the bottom, putting your 02 line in and duct taping it solid. then turn on the 02, bunch the top of the bag in your hand and suck outta the top of the bag. Instant "Non Re Breather Mask!"

Do read the Oxygen Info tab on the left as it has a lot of useful info to make the 02 work better.

Also, look into energy drinks, Rock Star, Monster, any containing the combo of caffeine and Taurine. Many can abort or at least reduce attacks by chugging one at the start of an attack. I use them in combination with the oxygen for a solid 1-2 punch to knock the beast out!

You've been given some good advice by the good guys before me. You do need to read the "oxygen info" so you know how it works. Go to the link below to see it.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of the Beast , I  have O2 so I fear him not.

Well, I thought it would be kind of a pain to get the GP to prescribe me 02, but I called his nurse left a message and asked about 02 therapy.

They called me back and said they would write me a script.

So now it's just a matter of waiting until the AM and calling back.

Thanks all Smiley

That's GREAT news. I can completely abort an attack in 10 minutes or less with 02. That's going from "oh crap here it comes" to that euphoric "it's completely gone" feeling. Make sure they give you the high flow regulator, 15 LPM good, 25 LPM great! And just as important is the Non Re Breather Mask, it has valves that releases your exhaled air so you're not "Re Breathing" what you've exhaled. Hope it works as well for you as it has for me. Keep us posted!

In fact, it will work better than whatever you are about to get from the medical O2 supplier..
