head-ache journal
Feb 24th, 2010 at 4:57am

i am on the verge of getting health insurance ...  i cant wait..

well i have been keeping a log of my head-aches...I.E.  what time they occur and the severity.

i read once before this was a good idea so i started mine on January 11th of this year.  i was wondering how i could optimize this little book of mine in regards to diagnosis.  what should i be paying attention to and recording in this journal of mine?  if you have done this, kept a log, i would be curious as to what info you and your doctor found most useful.

thanks in advance...

The important points:

When they start, how fast they build, how high they build, how long they stay at peak, how fast they go away. Identify any potential triggers, what you have used to treat the pain, what has and hasn't worked. Describe the type and location of pain, steel band around the head, boring drill thru the head, thru the eye, etc., what areas of head, neck and face are affected. That'll give them a wealth of info for diagnosis!

Be careful not to let your new insurance company know that you have this. They might just use it as evidence of a "pre-existing condition."

Keep it between your doc and yourself.

And color me paranoid.
