New Lawn Mowers

I didn't order them. Four of them just showed up early this morning and went to work. Evidently they are self propelled, rust resistant and they auto deposit fertilizer pellets.

Could, but this part of Texas has at least one or two cows walking around if I get that hungry.

Living away from the city, surrounded by farmers and ranchers of all types is becoming very comfortable for me. Folks around here "got yer back" without you needing to ask. It's just the the way it is.

I think I saw enough deer Fri night.  Had one run across in front of me that I missed by about a foot, then about 5 miles down the road another stepped out in front and was close enough that I checked the bumper for hair later.

Nice pics though!

You're right those are beautiful pictures.

Living only a couple blocks from what is called "the woods" here, I get them in the city late at night mostly. I found a dead one out back two years ago. My guess is that it got hit in town and found a place to die in the bushes.

Ya never get a break.

They're so graceful through the woods.  Nice land.  Makes me miss time up north at the cottage, been too long.

Purdy pics!  Shucks, we have herds of them in our pastures, right next to the house, especially after deer season opens.

I like watching the young one's at dawn while I'm drinking coffee before work. They were late today, I shot these pictures from the sitting area in my bedroom - when I opened the blinds they were there.

Our dog just sits quietly and watches them too - until I let him out......then it's full speed, flat out high speed chase through the woods. I'm pretty sure that the deer are just humoring him. He's way too small and slow to actually catch one, and wouldn't want to hurt it if he caught one.

Marc,

You forgot in the description about them being lyme disease carrying, sapling destroyer, and traffic hazard.  Keep letting you dog out on them, and they may stay away. If you can't get rid of them be prepared to mow everything, or keep your pants tucked into your socks.

Great pics Marc.

Have 5 new fawns around my place in recent days, cute little fellas havent seen a mom with them.

Funny thing is I have 3 yr old G Shepherd dog of 130 lbs on patrol just doesnt bother the little ones gives them the run of the place with a watchfull eye but will keep the adult deer 500 feet from the house and easily run down the big ones until they lay down. He'll give them a good sniff and be back home right away.
Probably gave the momma deer a heart attack and feels quilty.

No other critter gets close, but then last year he brought home 2 little kittens from some wild litter I assume and raised them mostly himself. Its his idea of being a shepherd I guess.

But those would be Oregon Beach Deer, well known to carry "fibromontosis" which attacks and breaks down fiberglass in a very serious way.

If you know anyone with a Corvette(s) send them down to me for safe keeping. I'm sure that a cure will be found soon. (Snake venom is looking promising so far  Grin

MJ, that is one hell of a dog you have there.  Give him a treat for me will ya?

Mark, ya hasd me going there for about once second.  Right up until you said "fiberglass"

Good thing you are about 2000 miles away from Cathi, or I would be making the announcement here that:

Giving that Marcus could not bite his tongue about Cathi's Corvettes, he has gone on to his Ford reward in the sky.  May he rest in peace til Cathi gets there and may all of his days beyond that...consist of eating crow.  Or fiberglass.

Marc,
You forget, oh, tormenter of former Californians, I am not the Vette enthusiast! I am officially on my 6th Jeep now, and greatly prefer the ride in it over the Vette.......can't see a flipping thing in a car so low!
As for the Oregon beach deer, I hear they bear a strange resemblance to those Austin-bred deer, but Oregon deer don't have to worry about the range- rovin attack birds!

I'll give you a cure, sir.... BANG-ZOOM!

Nice to see you smiling......... Cheesy

Nah, I moved over to Chevy from Ford.

My 4WD Chevy truck has 175K miles on it and is running strong and the Malibu is still brand new at 90K.

After having a CJ5 and three different Cherokee's over the years I kinda missed working on things that break down - so I got one for my daughter a few months ago. A clean old '96 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Problem is, the damn thing won't break......

Let's see.........oil changes, brakes, check, tires, check, one water pump and an overheated 'butt warmer"........... in 20+ years of owning Jeeps.
I have a total aversion to car payments, and a mechanic who lets me know when it's time to start looking.
Our AAA membership is used on old Vette, however...

I don't wanna car. I wanna house on the beach!
this economy is getting on my nerves

Cathi..who is wondering. what IS Linda driving, now the the lipstick pink Montego is gone??

Inquiring minds..........

I would have to say the auto pellet depositing is the best feature. Either that or the fact that they just show up and you don't even have to order them.
