I spent yesterday helping out down at my Brother-in-law's place. Grabbed a couple of snapshots during beer breaks  Wink

Fantastic Marc.  I love what you do with black and white photos.   That second one is pure Americana.

Darn thing is still pumping water beautifully.

If the world comes to a screeching halt, I'm headed down to his place. He's got multiple water wells, sheep, cows, chickens, deer, feral hogs and he is putting in a really big garden. He's headed in the direction of increased self sufficiency and I'm learning..........

Next up is building a small solar power plant - something I have expertise with.

Look into geo-thermal heat/cooling.  Takes it right out of the earth to heat and cool your home.  We have friends who built their house this way and their heating cooling bills are minuscule in this climate!

Yup.

I've done a total of 12 geothermal heat pump projects.  First one was for the City of Riverside in 1979 - 16 tons of A/C that worked so well that it was written up nation wide in the summer of '81. Decent efficiency, but still requires electricity to run the compressors.

Also keep in mind that San Diego is famous for it's climate. When the big VA hospital was built many, many years ago, the engineering study proved that it was best to use the LEAST amount of insulation. I'm not kidding - think about what that means.

We proved even higher efficiency with our thermal storage systems. Took an entire 18 story building off peak by making chilled water at night and storing it underground for use the next day. ASHRAE still has a drawing my 1988 system in their handbook.

The solar power plant we are working on now for the ranch makes the electricity instead of simply using electricity more efficiently. If the grid goes down, we still have power. There is a whole lot of free energy falling out of the sky every day.

Stand out in the sun for awhile and look at what happens to your skin. That's pure energy.........

I love your snapshots.  Maybe you ought to put a little thought and work into your photography.  You might get good at it! Cheesy

Beautiful shots, Marc, as always.  I loved the black and white.  It is so stark!

Saw the B&W shot and thought, dinkum, that could be anywhere within half the Australian continent. That's immediately followed by the lovely Linda's comment that it's pure Americana.

What a wonderful world we share.

My thought was Grapes of Wrath, Marc.
That and.....
whatever you are drinking HAS to be better than Gil's uncle's dandelion and celery wine..........un-iced, no less........can you say BLEAUGGGH!? (thanks for the word, Charlie!)
At any rate, you KNOW your work is something special..umm, have a friend with an art gallery..wanna put me to a bet? Gil would even frame them for you!!!
Just a thought-easy with all the spare time I have of late!

aside from all that... one question.....
do all men think there are only 2 beverages in this world?
Coffee, then beer, more coffee, then beer.........

WC Fields was really only JOKING about water, guys! It's safe to ingest-and quite refreshing, too!

Again, a thought.... from my idle brain......

Water's fine if you happen to be dirty. I mean, who'd waste beer to wash?
